I have stories with everyone mentioned in this thread. But to keep it relevant, the Norstrom/Lafayette/Laperriere/Ferraro for Kurri/McSorely/Churla deal made me sick then and it still gets me upset now.
Awful trade. I've posted this statement at least five times on this board; "Seeing Zubov and Norstrom play together in Dallas at the end of their careers following the 2004-05 lockout was one of the most heartbreaking things as a sports fan I've had to endure. I liked Kim Johnson. I hope he's ok now from the concussions he got later in his career. I know he never played with Chicago when they won the Cup in 2010 and his name isn't on it, but I hope he had a day to spend with it.

He was one of the best board players in the league and rarely lost a battle in the corners, but once he came away with the puck, could never figure out how to get it in the net.

Vorobiev came out of the gates blazing and faded away like most prospects back then. Same with Daniel Goneau. I don't think Messier liked Vorobiev very much if memory serves me correctly (and it usually doesn't these days)

I heard something once, don't know if it was from this board, or through someone else connected, that Messier didn't like Goneau. Something along the lines of Goneau had no respect for the lockerroom and thought he was going to be an NHL great after his ridiculously hot start. Supposedly, Messier caught him in the lockerroom with a girl, and basically forced management to get rid of him...

Diaz had a nice little stint as the Rangers 6/7 defenseman at the height of their last run.

Guys like him continue to prove so important to contending teams because there are always injuries in the playoffs.
