... Bobby Rousseau won several cups as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. He was a small but very slick center/right wing. The Rangers used him more than less as a specialist or a fill in or as a 4th liner but he was always on the first power play unit playing point with Brad Park. ...

The Martin Rucinsky add to the Jagr teams always reminded me of the Rousseau addition to the GAG line teams, a skilled older guy, with an all-round game, who you could plug in on any line, as-needed.

LOVED Kloucek. Such a shame about his knee. When healthy, he was an absolute killer on the defensive side.

Anyone mention Jeff Toms? The Tominator? Some of the old timers might remember how much I loved him

Kloucek was a human wrecking ball. I loved watching him, but it was clear the time-bomb was ticking on his career with the way he played.

That forehand -> backhand -> top-shelf shootout move was unreal. Lightning quick.

One of the best shootout moves I've seen. Goalies knew it was coming and still couldn't stop it. He's still in the area - his son plays on a local team. My coworkers son knows him from the rink.

Nigel Dawes the future 30 goal power forward

Dawes is killing it in the KHL he won their Richard trophy last year and has made multiple all-star teams. Just never put it together in the NHL but the talent was there - not your typical "good enough for the AHL but not the NHL". In different circumstances he probably could have carved out a better career in the NHL.

How about some former Penguins like Billy Tibbetts and Ryan Malone.. mwahahahaha

Eddie Kapinsky

were anyone else among us at that game?

in a preseason game in '96, Bruce Driver wore a Kapinsky jersey in 1st and 3rd period
A Penguin wore it in the 2d
they were shooting footage to use in a Bruce Willis hockey movie
But it never got made

The entire awful but still entertaining 01-02 team.

You had Fleury at the height of his issues, which led to tons of antics on the ice, including attacking the Sharks mascot. Barnaby fighting everyone (21 majors that year), and rarely winning but usually making someone laugh as he seemed to enjoy losing. McCarthy also had 11 fights that year. Dale Purinton being his normal lunatic self, including his epic fight with Jim Cummins (go watch the video if you haven't seen it). That whole game with the Cummins fight was insane.

Dark days for the Rangers for sure but if you liked rivalry and fights, it was a tough team who didn't back down. Won a lot more fights than games that year, though, that's for sure.

You are the first person other than me to ever recall Johan Witehall (who, as mentioned, I thought was John Whitehall for some time).

Mottau was gonna be tits but instead was just a plug for Jersey for a few years.

Mottau was gonna be **** but instead was just a plug for Jersey for a few years.

The other thing I remember about him was Sam or JD saying his name is pronounced Vita-hall.

It was relatively recent (like 4-5 years ago) but remember Mike Kostka?

That dude who singlehandedly cost us a couple games vs the Fishdicks. He was one of the worst defensemen I ever saw in this league.

A few years earlier they could have had Mark Hardy wear the jersey and he would have passed for Bruce Willis.

Bryan Berard and that nice goal he scored in Lindros' philly return, first since the eye injury. those were some dark days.

Chicken Parm Ray Ferraro. Allegedly took less money to stay close to his family. Then Neil Smith traded him to the Kings middle of the first season.

Have we mentioned Fedor Federov yet? Such promise... although the jokes regarding Hossa, him and Slats not quite understanding who he was getting were kind of funny.

Also, Ryan Clowe and his 15 seconds of Ranger fame. We trade for him in a season where he'd scored 0 goals up to the that point (28 games), and he goes to score 2 in his Rangers debut before only netting 1 more for the rest of the season

Nobody can turn away from a trainwreck, that's for sure.

I had an affinity for earl 80s teams when I listened to games on the radio. I’ll butcher the names but they always stuck in my head.

Reho Routsalinin
Doug Soutart
Eddie Mio
Tom Laidlaw
There were 2 Kellys, we traded one to Washington

I think this was Herb Brooks era smurfs.

I went early to games but never could get a Fatiuo puck.
