Brian Burke figured we got more for Hayes than Vegas got for Stone.
Brian Burke isn't very smart.

Who said that? His plans seem to be to move away from the dreaded middle.straddling ?
his plan seems to be exactly what you would do to be in the middle ????
The past need not rule the future. What you are seeing now, you have not seen this franchise do as of yet.this organization will not support or tolerate a complete tear down.
Quinn was brought here to change the culture and develop a new personality. He was brought here to develop young players.quinn wasn't brought here to lose 40 games per his first 3 seasons.
An all out tanking was a part of your plan. Not Gorton's.no way this organization allows that. we couldn't even tank properly.
Yeah. Just look at this year and last year. All in for another kick at the canthey will try to make the playoffs every season and just miss for a few years
This does not appear to be a playoff bubble team.sadly, we are in the middle right now and will be there for a while.
Broberg with our pick then a goalie ranked in the 70s with the Jets pickI hope we draft a bunch of McIlraths.

He wasnt the only one on the talk shows in Canada. Some felt Brunnstrom was too small to be as impactful as he has been in the NHL.
Staal's cap hit is $5.7MM. Next year, he gets paid $5MM in actual dollars and $4.2MM the following year. Smith's cap hit is $4.35MM. Next year he gets paid $4.525 in actual dollars and the following year gets $3.35MM.Interesting thought here but Ottawa is going to need some salary (cheap cap hit) to make the floor next year. Could we retain on Smith or Staal and send one of them there. Staal is owed around 7 million I believe in real dollars over the next two years but a cap hit over 10 if memory serves me correct
Certainly follows the scriptTrading Hayes and Zuccarello at this deadline, signing no big free agents last off-season, plus the moves made at the last trade deadline just screams aiming for the middle and being a playoff bubble team to me, doesn’t it?
Last year’s first round was *mwah*, beautiful. Miller and Kravstov are elite prospects and Lundkvist is low key excellent as well. Same with the 2017 forst round. Still think Andersson will be very good, maybe not as good as Chytil/Krav but an important piece for sure.
We used deadline returns last year to get both Miller and Lundkvist. Those guys are ten times better than any prospect traded outside of Brannstrom. If we got that level of prospect for Hayes people would be doing backflips.
Still need that one franchise piece to tie it all together. We get that and everything will fall into place.
The returns have been fair. Obviously you'd like them to be in your favor but at least none have been skewed against the team.
If they win Hughes I'll feel a lot better
Even Kakko.
Shattenkirk is similar. He has been paid $16M these first two years and is due just $10.6M the following two.Staal's cap hit is $5.7MM. Next year, he gets paid $5MM in actual dollars and $4.2MM the following year. Smith's cap hit is $4.35MM. Next year he gets paid $4.525 in actual dollars and the following year gets $3.35MM.
Staal has a full NMC. Smith has a 10-team NTC starting next year.
All of this was from cap friendly.
Do you think there was a GM out there that would have given a 1st rounder and Gorton opted instead for the 2nd and 3rd with conditions?
Look at what Detroit got for Nyquist. 2nd and 3rd that will likely be later in each round, conditions to improve picks are not as good as what the Rangers picks from the Stars can turn into. Similar production and Nyquist is 2 years younger. Opposing GM's aren't going to pay more because a guy is a fan favorite or has a lot of heart. They make these moves for results.
They need to win the lottery this year or next. Or at least pick top 3. This rebuild will do nothing but get us back to where we were without drafting the straw that stirs the drink.
I think the general consensus is that the Rangers have done very well over the last 12 months in what they've been able to bring back.
Now having said that, you have to view it through the prism that trading established NHL talent for prospects and picks is usually not an equal value exchange --- especially in the immediate aftermath of said transaction.
So one shouldn't look at the deals and say, "Player A, who was drafted with the pick acquired for Player B, needs to replace Player B in order for the trade to be a success."
I know that sounds like a given, and pretty basic, but you'd be surprised how often conversations drift in that direction.
Cut yo jibba jabba fool. Whoever we pick with the pick we got for Hayes needs to replace Hayes in October!
You a stone cold sooth sayer RD six to the nine minus one.
