Really sounds like a guy who hates Carolina and the system they employ, huh
For all the bluster from SJ fans saying that if they don't like the offers, that they'll just keep him, it certainly sounds like (at least through Google translate, anyway) that he's insisting on being moved before the start of the season. @Lucky Lindy, is that how you read it?

Even his dad is in perpetual amusement for Peesh.

"Would you be ok with staying in the [Sharks] organisation for the upcoming four seasons left of your contract?"
"No, I'm not."

He likes SJ, but has never got to win and wants that chance. They have no issues with this but a mutual understanding.

On his way out of his club. Wants to win Stanley Cup, not gonna happen with Sharks.

They'll see if they're gonna find a trade. Sharks are thought to retain salary, the question is to what extent.

Erik Karlsson vill vinna Stanley Cup.

The bit about it being iffy how much Sharks will retain may or may not be reporter's own conjecture. It would be a trick to find a third party club to retain 50 percent of what's left after Shark's would first retain 30 percent or whatever.

Now translate it in a way that is more flattering to the Hurricanes. We won't know, @Lempo , we don't speak Spanish.

With defense being our 1 elite unit, we should be trying to pay to get an elite forward. Granted as much defense as Karlsson doesn’t play defense his is a forward, but that isn’t what I mean.

I’m starting to come around on this, if only because it sounds like we won't be getting Karlsson.

Canes always prioritize salary structure over positional need. The Karlsson talks are quite consistent with that in some ways because Pesce likely would require an 8 year mega-contract while Karlsson only has 4 seasons remaining. Simultaneously, though, is it more Carolina to give up a ton of assets for EK or is it more Carolina to "help" Pittsburgh facilitate such a trade by taking on Petry (only 2 seasons remaining) for a 1st round sweetener? I know that the latter would be the more controversial move because Petry is a few years older, but he has less term and is still a quality defenseman. So now I can think of four possibilities for a Pesce replacement, in order of likelihood:

1. TDA as a UFA
2. Karlsson for an unexpectedly inexpensive asset price
3. Petry for a 1st round sweetener (IMO this is an underrated possibility)
4. Bouchard for an offer sheet

TDA makes more sense than trying for Karlsson. No long term commitment, nothing more than money needed to get him, and the same defensive issues for a lot less.
I don’t know that TDA wants to come here until he can get a roster spot though.
I mean it makes sense on some level but let’s not pretend TDA is anywhere near as good as Karlsson at anything. One won the Norris last year and one was a healthy scratch for a whale shit hockey team.

Yes, I can definitely see Dundon living out a "we have Karlsson at home" meme with TDA.
