Noesen can score goals. Doesn’t seem like lemieux can do that

Well, at even strength that's not really the case.

In the last 2 years in LA with 749 5v5 minutes played, Lemieux scored 8 goals for a rate of 0.64 Goals/60 min
Last year in Carolina with 735 5v5 minutes played, Noesen scored 5 goals for a rate of 0.41 Goals/60 min

Lemieux's top line mates: Lizotte, Kaliev, Kupari and Grundstrom
Noesen's top line mates: Stepan, Kotkaniemi, Stastny, Necas

Neither were very good goal scorers 5v5

On the top PP unit with Aho, Svech, Necas and Burns is where Noesen scored 7 goals. Lemieux didn't play any other PP in LA.

Yup. There were definitely a lot of times last year where it was a "If that was Niederetter instead of Noesen, that might've been something." Substituting Bunting in for Noesen could be a real big deal.

So here's one that's seemingly right up the Borg's alley. Kuznetsov haș asked for a trade. His contract:

Cap Hit $7.8M for the next two seasons
Actual Salary: $6M this season and $8M next season

Canes would need WSH (or a 3rd team) to retain some of that. He's only 1 year removed from a 24G, 78P season. IIRC, Rod talked about how incredibly skilled he was at the ASG a couple years back. Would add a dynamic (even at his age) scorer and also a legit 2C.

It would be an impressive top 6 and provide depth at C as well.

Plenty of snow in Cary, so I'm sure he'd be interested

Guess we ain't getting him now, unless they have a buyout window? They're hoping someone with cap space like ARZ claims him for free first so they don't have to retain
The Flyers just avoided salary arbitration with Lycksell which opens a second buyout window.

Sounds like DeAngelo will be bought out.

Edit: Seravelli is reporting the same, although with Cates's arbitration resolution rather than Lycksell's.

Again, such a strange saga. Guess they got tired of waiting for us. Weird, given that so many national and Flyers reporters still kept saying it would happen. And of course Wads at one point. Of course, it wouldn't be shocking if he's willing that we sign him even cheaper than $2.5.
