If TDA coming here was something they saw as an issue, or cared about as an issue, with the fans, they wouldn't do it. But this is a business and TDA will help win hockey games.
Trading for Tony is a business thing, but managing the suppoter base is also a business thing. Giving them someone more universally welcomed as the headline news is a solid business decision.

It’s a trade not a signing.
congrats you pointed out my brain fart while typing. doesnt change the point I was making

They didn't last time they brought him in and it didnt matter. And signing/trading to add someone else doesnt change people's opinions of Tony. Theyre gonna have that no matter what.

that I think is why we haven’t gone ahead and finished the trade even though it is now allowed…. The potential other moves need to be sorted out first….
I would be very careful on re-neging on the TDA trade if now nixing it is not done in a complete understanding with Philly. Everyone and their cat knows we got a deal in place. Signing UFAs and pre-agreeing on trade would become much mre difficult if there was no trust on Don keeping his handshake agreements.

Would other things happening around the league, and for both Philly and the Canes, not have some kind of potenial effect on the deal? Even if Don said before it was in place still?

Completely disagree…..

already joked about the way Waddell would explain it in a call to Briere in post #1057:

Thank you for the congratulations. It’s been a while since I’ve been recognized for a job well done. Means more than you’ll ever know.

Certainly. Philly could run out of retention slots with other trades and then not be able to retain on Tony for example.

Exactly my point. who knows what happened over the last week that could have changed the course of this deal.

Perhaps I am misremembering but didn't someone here post that when EK and Burns were together previously in SJ, it was a like a "vampire situation" in which he sort of drained the life from Burns?

Here's what makes me skeptical. Here are your proposal's going back in time:

Jan 10: Boeset+Lekkerimaki for Provorov+3rd?
Jan 10: To CBJ: Lekkerimaki; To Canucks: Peeke
Feb 5: Lekkerimaki+Rathbone for Murphy
Apr 5: what about Murphy with retention for Lekkerimaki?
May 19: Marner for J.T Miller, Myers (make the cap work), 11th OA, Lekkerimaki
Jun 18: 11 + Lekkerimaki + Myers (cap dump) for Hanifin + 16
Monday: Miller+Lekkerimaki for Lindholm
Friday: How about Pesce for Lekkerimaki?

Whenever a poster is including a prospect in numerous trade proposals, I get a feeling that they don't think very highly of a prospect. Prospects that have high potential are almost never offered by teams because contribution on an ELC/2nd contract in a cap world is crucial.

Again, I don't know much about the guy to say if your proposal is a fair deal or not. It may or may not be. I'm just stating that's been my experience here on HF over the years.
It’s not that I don’t think he’s a good prospect, it’s just that wingers are by far our biggest strength which makes him expendable and our biggest trade chip.

That's fair.

Like I said, I just don't know enough about him to know if your proposal is reasonable or not.

However you feel about A Gold, he seems to be the only media personality regularly reporting on Canes-y things these days.

Anyway, even if this is 2 days old, some interesting tidbits:

-He says the Canes are still waiting on Tarasenko and because of that, the waiting may be gumming up the Pesce trade - ex.- sign Tarasenko and trade Pesce for futures, strikeout with Tarasenko, trade Pesce for a forward

-Clearly says the TDA trade will be completed on Sunday, is now almost 7pm ET…wonder what gives.

-Seems to downplay CAR interest in Karlsson. I think your could infer he sees them looking for a forward as the higher priority. This jives with RBA’s recent interview

Well of course it jives with that interview....Gold did that interview with RBA. Why would he report/speculate something different than what the coach said on his own show?

He didn’t down play a Karlsson add at all. How did you pull that out him talking about a top 4 of Slavin, burns, orlov and Karlsson being the best top 4 in the league?

I started this video ready to eye roll hard if Gold downplayed Karlsson after every other insider have said we are a top pursuer. But that didn’t happen here.

Dobber has really cooled on him y/year…that’s a big drop and perhaps why he is in everyone of your trades?

All in perception.

I took him talking about the
Interest in Tarasenko plus RBA saying they’re looking for a forward as those being the front burner concerns.

Karlsson has never seemed realistic to me at least.

Saying we want a forward first isn’t down playing our interest in Karlsson
