Well Senators fans don't seem to be happy with the return for Debrincat. Lots of calls for Dorion to f*** off.

I think it's nonsense. Dorion took a big swing to make his team better last offseason but unfortunately whiffed in getting the guy that he targeted to sign on board. It happens. Luckily for him, he had enough time to recoup some value.

I'm fine missing out on Tarasenko. Feels like Kovalev 2.0 at this point.

Yes to EK but not if TDA is still a definite add. Scuttling the deal would have no lasting effect. Rather see EK plus a physical SAH 5/6 LD.

Adding a playmaking 2C is a big yes regardless.

Yeah, I don’t get the Dorion hate. He made a good trade to get a good scorer at a time where it made sense to get one. No different than for Yzerman now. You don’t always get to know if a guy will stay for you. They got a first rounder back plus a player who fits right now. I don’t think that’s a bad return, especially since Debrincat struggled early on which led to lower numbers. They said on XM he hit something like 15 posts this season?

I don’t see where the gm did anything wrong. Only so many teams can take the coming contract and the player really wanted to play in Detroit.

I wonder if the Tarasenko agent issue was more term than AAV.

The agent was looking for a one year deal and negotiate again when the cap went up. Tarasenko wants term and not to have to move around more.

Will the Canes be willing to offer term to Tarasenko? I doubt they go more than 2 years. Even 3 would be risking another Gardiner situation if Tarasenko's shoulder issues come back.

I highly doubt we want to lock ourselves into anything with Tarasenko that potentially hurts our ability to re-sign someone like Necas or Teravainen. So if he wants term, he needs a discount. If he wants to be paid, we can do it for this year. If he wants term and to be paid, he can go to Ottawa

TDA trade being further delayed for who knows why, Karlsson trade talks not moving, Pesce situation still unclear, Tarasenko nonsense etc.

What exactly is holding all this shit up?
Gold says Tarasenko. If tarasenko signs, Pesce will be traded for futures (presumably flipped to SJ for Karlsson). If he doesn’t sign we are moving Pesce for a forward, which would change the dynamic of the Karlsson deal.

I wonder if the Pesce transaction is salvageable at the 11th hour or has that ship sailed permanently?

Tarasenko the holdup was supposedly the Debrincat deal and firing his prior agents, so that one is at least understandable.

TDA there expected return is currently at our prospect camp on his own dime. That would be the epitome of a dick move.

Couldn't tell you on EK or Pesce but I suspect they're intertwined.
