I think it's nonsense. Dorion took a big swing to make his team better last offseason but unfortunately whiffed in getting the guy that he targeted to sign on board. It happens. Luckily for him, he had enough time to recoup some value.
Amazingly, there's a very small, but very vocal minority on the Wings board who are unhappy with the deal and signing Debrincat.

Canes in on everything and seemingly nothing is close

”The Hurricanes are keeping all of us busy”

highlights:

-expects Aho to get ~$9.5M x 8, no timeline
-Tarasenko likely to take a 1 yr deal from Canes, Sharks (?), Sens or Panthers, maybe Preds, one team thought to have offered 2-3yrs, but 1 yr deal most likely
-Karlsson trade is a poker game, each side knows what the other is willing to do, no one is completely happy with deal as is, someone needs to bend to get it done
-glossed over the TDA deal, nothing new, expects deal to get done

And seriously, why do they have to show Dahlin and Matthews ripping shots past Kochetkov and Raanta?

Everything hinges on tarasenko my guess if they get him then they don’t go for karlsson and they go thru with TDA deal. If they don’t get Sanko then they go karlsson route

Without doing any digging into their prospects it would make sense if they felt they don't have an elite talent yet at C and don't want to pick from 8-14 forever.

Who cares?

“Nuance”…..my lord.

It matters, because Necas is still young enough to be a valuable trade piece, if necessary, and if he struggles or falters in the playoffs, he could be used to acquire a player that doesn't.

For comparison, Martinook had 15 points in the last 25 games, Jarvis had 16, Aho had 17. Statsny, playing on the 4th line, had 8.

It was less about the 70 and more about only getting 10 points in the last 25 games, starting about the same that Svech went down.
So what you are saying, is Necas isn't a guy that can do it all by himself and works better when he has another good forward with him? At the ripe old age of 23 (when the season started) and getting paid $3M?

Necas and Svech carried the team early on, and they at times switched back and forth on which one of them carried each other. The reason we’re such a great team the last few years is how we come out of the gate. The wins in the beginning count just as much as the ones at the end, and they put us in a position of strength all season which is something I think gets taken for granted. We were never in doubt as a high end team, and Necas was a huge part of that this year. He was amazing in OT, including late in the year.

The point being made was you take Tony at 2.5 and 50 pts all day even with his warts…..obviously the same concept applies with Necas. It’s a no brainer for his production, which a guy like Tlusty must love.

Svech and Necas were a dynamic duo, and it’s no surprise a solo act is easier to defend - especially as the games tighten up to playoff style down the stretch. This is imo the bigger impact on Necas more than the man crumbling under pressure. He’s an amazing player that needs help, just like everyone other guy we have. Aho was slow out of the gate this year, and that can just as impactful as a scorer struggling down the stretch.

If Necas could fight through the tougher checking and still score he’d be at 100 pts and we couldn’t afford him.

Yeah but you can't just isolate it like that. Context and circumstances play a part as well. Guys like Necas always have a tough go of it in the closer checking playoff style. If the PP actually was functional, he ideally would have done his damage there but with no real puck-moving, space-creating D on either PP unit, it was stagnant again. It's not to give Necas a pass but without Svech creating space, he wasn't going to produce at the same level as in the regular season.
