i think Edmonton has enough O.S protection right now. The have 5.5 mil in space plus McLeod going to arbitration to allow them to buy out Campbell or another player if need be.

Didn't the buyout window close at the end of June? Of course there are other ways to shed cap if necessary.

But when it comes to buyouts, first thing is the target has to accept one. I wonder how many players are truly open to that? I know we know of 2, but those seemed like special circumstances; the relationship between Koko and the Habs was seriously damaged and Aho used the Habs to get his 5 yr deal signed quickly.

edit: thanks to gocanes for pointing out the 2nd window that opens up after an arbitration case ends.

I wonder how nervous the Oilers would feel if DW called them and asked if they'd trade Bouchard with the implication that they weren't the OS is soon to follow.

Float a PTO Zadina’a way to further add to the 2018 draft top 10 collection?
Sure. But he'll get a guaranteed contract somewhere.

Chicago is my first guess, Arizona second. Someone who has space for a young talented forward they can rebuild.

So what I gather Ottawa wants to deal DeBrincat so they can sign Tarasenko. So why are the Canes not interested in DeBrincat.. is it because he is too much like Jarvis, a small winger or the salary he is seeking to sign long term is too high?

I think they might consider renting him, but Ottawa is not looking to trade for rental value.

Toronto is in the same boat with Nylander; they want to get full value for the player but that will only happen if someone can negotiate a long-term deal with the player. (See PLD.)

I doubt TDA will be flipped. Not for that production at that price.
It does sound very counter-intuitive that Canes would re-acquire him just to flip him over. Especially after how things already went with that trade.

I mean, back in high school back in the day, a classmate of mine spent a considerable amount of time to beg another classmate to give him a bubble-gum out of the guy's bubblegum bag. "No! Everyone gonna want some if I give you!" After finally tiring the guy up and getting himself one pillow of bubblegum, he then made a show of taking his own bubblegum bag our of his pocket and carefully securing the bubblegum pillow he just had got in the half-full bag of his own.

Us flipping TDA to some other team after all this debacle would be pretty much like that.

I have an odd feeling he is included in the Karlsson deal with DW mentioning we are still negotiating with Skjei. I don’t see us sitting Chatfield and why have 2 depth RHS pp guys? If Skjei was being traded too, i could see a TDA staying.
We wanted TDA until SJ became serious about retaining money to make a EK move happen. So to keep from burning bridges we’ll take the TDA deal still and then flip to SJ. SJ doesn’t mind because his cap hit will be low enough at the deadline he could be worth a good asset.

Talk about doin' a guy dirty. Wanted to play in his hometown, but that didn't work out. Phew, at least my old team still likes me and will have me back....wait, what?!? you are sending me to liberal land!!!

Yes. And what more, we lace it with xylitol and call it a health product due to it being good to your teeth.

I've never heard a piece of gum referred to as a "pillow" :wedgie:
I knew that would be caught. Jenkki, or "Yankee" is a household name in the chewing gum scene and those iconic white slightly tooth-looking pieces and ditto the bigger cubes of Hubba-Bubba are called a pillow.
