well yeah, he did hedge. and if there was any reason to think it wouldnt go through, he wouldn't have hedged. but he did.

honest qiestion, with Orlov now, what would be the point of TDA? I was ok with bringing bck TDA before, but now with Orlov......why? And if we're still in on Karlsson........theres zero spot for TDA even with Orlov

Orlov isn't the PP guy that TDA is, though he can play the PP. TDA, as a PP dman sheltered on the 3rd pairing should be able to feast here.

My question now is what we do with Skjei, I just flat out can't see us running the current left-hand side into the season.

Sorokin staying the Isles is surprising but keeps them from re-building
Teardown rebuilds rarely actually work. The high picks are sexy, and yeah, get Crosby and it can happen, but most high picks ain't Crosby, and keeping your good players and trying to find ways to add more good players are how most contending teams actually become contending teams. When you've got a goalie of that caliber, you keep him.

Teardowns are good...when your team is actually cooked, like Philly/Chicago were.

At least Lou didn't wait months to announce things and everyone acts like he's a genius for his dinosaur tactics. But other than Sorokin, nothing special to keep those guys forever. Talk about we like our group.

Even then, you're better off trying to re-sign your good players and have them be part of the rebuild. The returns you get in trades for them only have a tiny fraction of a chance at bejng as good as the guy you're trading away. Remember, a 2nd round pick has about a 1 in 3 chance of even having a single game in the NHL. Selling off good players virtually never gets you anything resembling a good player in near or long terms. You should only do that when the player has given you an absolute no.

But when you're a playoff team, even a middling one, the idea that you should tear everything down is utterly mystifying to me. Exactly the wrong approach. That's how you go from playoffs with some fan hope and excitement to a decade of horror.

Aho is leaving them cap some space to operate, if something good is available.
I think you're right, contract is agreed upon but holding off gives us cap space to make moves and rearrange the deck chairs without risk of getting trapped over the cap

So with the dynamism that Orlov does bring offensively, how do you see the PPQB time being split up? Not the best idea having 2 PPBQs on one PP, in case they need to play defense too.

Yeah, i imagine he is gone as part of a deal somewhere to forward help

well, remember teams are allowed to be 10% over the cap in the summer.
