I think a major problem is the depth at both F and D.

NJ had a similar problem for many years, generating nice young talent but they were getting thrown to the wolves every night.

There needs to be some veteran depth role players, decent middle-6 guys to share a little bit of the heavy lifting.

I'd think any D hanging on Werenski must still be good. The 2nd line seems very good, and they have good goalies (based on reputation)

Trotz likely lands an executive role similiar to what Tortorella got coming from ESPN to Philly..... it's highly doubtful Trotz will solely be a coach only

I don't know the answer, but the individual talent is better than the team's performance. The players have zero fight in them. They are a very easy team to play right now. I have been following this garbage for 22 years. I am not sure how much more of this I can take. I may be walking away from the Jackets and the NHL for a while. It's just not fun.

At a time when the values of professional hockey teams are starting to be measured in the billions, the loyalty of a single fan is horrendously overrated.

IMO they should try to trade Korpisalo for a pick, let Merzlikins and Tarasov tandem and battle for starts. Try demoting Sillinger to the AHL and see if Kent Johnson works at center. Move Nyquist and Gavrikov either now or at the deadline. Try to find a team that will give you good value for Boqvist between now and next season.

Love Gaudreau and I get why they made the signing but anyone thinking he was going to come in and change that team needs to watch the Oilers lol.

Pretty much what I've been saying all summer long.

Those two players aren't going to change the identity of the team, or help that much with the existing problems. It's still a team that's waiting for all the young guys to get better to really know what they have, and time will tell how those pan out.

This wasn't a good hockey team, and the only reason some people were picking them for a playoff spot in the summer was because of a shiny signing.
