Yeah, Drai has only been good for one game his entire career.

Clearly what I meant, right?

I mean, it's pretty obvious I meant 1 game away from McDavid being on the roster means nothing. I didn't get a chance to watch the game anyways, was too late on a weeknight.

I'll be watching this weekend for their afternoon game. You guys make fun of Leaf fans but man you guys do the exact same shit lol.

It was against a bottom feeder Hawks team too that has lost 4 in a row wow lol. Imagine if Matthews lit up the Sabres and Leaf fans pretended it meant he was McDavid level.

You know I’m just razzing you.

The difference is you guys live in such a bubble in Toronto, you don’t often see what’s happening outside of the “Centre of the Universe”. This is especially true in hockey.

You mentioned wanting to watch Drai yesterday, then he puts up 4 points lol that was a game to watch.

I know. I only get to really watch the Oilers on weekends because the games are on too late. I watch a lot of them because I interact with you fine folk so often, I like to at least have an idea of the players.

Plus secretly I do like watching Drai and know that visually he has been better than McDavid this year.

Some friendly banter and chirping is always good when testing our hockey opinions. Leafs and Oilers fans are as passionate as it comes about hockey.

Besides a pretty bad stretch in December (where Drai forgot how to hockey), I’d say Drai visually and actual production wise has been the best player in the world. Which seems absurd when he’s a teammate of McDavids, but he’s really been that dominant.

That backhand sauce to Yamamoto yesterday though.

McDavid hasn't exactly been himself this year either though, production aside.

Speaks to how good he is, essentially he missed an entire offseason rehabbing his knee.
He's actually probably in better shape, didn't he have to train like 10 hours a day to get back for this season.

Congrats on a 1 game sample size I guess?

82 goals and 194 points in 138 games actually. 10 goals and 28 points in 15 games since McDavid split but yeah, 1 game sample size.
The only thing worse than an uninformed opinion is doubling down on that uninformed opinion.

Edit: I guess you were talking about a 1 game sample size post-McDavid injury. Nevertheless, Drai is elite with or without McDavid. He has no more proving to do in this department.
Where he needs to improve is his defensive commitment which can wane at times but that's the case with most highly skilled players who plays tons of minutes. His 200 foot game is improving but still a bit of a work in progress. Same with McDavid.

Lol..meanwhile Draisaitl is pretty much at 2 ppg for 15 games without McDavid.

Herp derp

I think what he meant is the indirect benefits of having McDavid on the roster period.

These next couple of games will showcase Leon’s ability to take on the hard match-ups while still producing.

Don’t think any of us can argue the indirect impact of having a McDavid playing on your roster, even if he’s on a different line than you.

I get what he’s saying, but we’re gonna learn a lot about Draisatl.

You guys are arguing with Kamiccolo, who tries to **** on the Oilers because he has Leafs persecution complex. He's trying to balance out the universe

You know, I generally enjoy your posts. You put a lot of work into them, and it shows.

But your credibility is getting cratered on this, and it's a really bad look.

Seriously, sit this one out. This is not the hill you want to die on.

Oiler fans already know a lot about Draisaitl with and without McDavid. There is nothing to learn for us. Maybe guys like you haven't ? His sample size has already been large enough without playing with McDavid. There is not a
single player in the NHL who would not regress if you took McDavid out of their lineup. The suggestion that he won't be as productive or effective without 97 is just pure common sense. First game he defied that logic. Lets see moving forward.

But that’s really just not true. Draisitl brings more to the table than McDavid, is a better scorer, better passer, and stronger. McDavid has the speed, hands, and flash but in the end it doesn’t really matter because Drai will outproduce him.
Pump the breaks there. McDavid has been the better player as a whole since he entered the league. Lets see what he looks like next season when his knee is fully recovered and he's had the summer to get back to 100% training.

ah c'mon... I'm in Boston and watch nearly every game. Just put your PJ's on and allow yourself to snooze if it's a trap fest. It's become much more difficult to sleep in the McDrai years, that's for sure.

Yeah no he is right. McD being out means our offense isn't as split up (already had depth issues) and makes it easier to defend. If Drai can break through and continue his pace then I think that will end this debate on if he could be an elite #1 center without McD. Next game though considering its TBL we probably are going to get killed though so we could use another 4 pt night from him lol
