No, Hall has more value than Draisaitl.

Highly doubtful. A Big center with a solid rookie season and tons of upside on an ELC has more value than a very good but not elite $6M winger. Hall is basically Kessel, Nash at the time of trade.

With that said, Nashville has no reason whatsoever to trade Ellis so it's a moot point.

Yes, yes they do.

Notice how no objective fans are saying Nash shouldn't do this deal?

Notice how fans who pay attention to Nashville's lack of defensive depth after the top 4 think it is a bad idea to trade Ellis for a center we don't need. Also notice how I never once said that it wasn't an overpayment from Edmonton, which it is, and I never said Ellis is worth Draisaitl, which he isn't.

We traded a defenseman for a top line center last year, so this deal makes no sense. If that makes someone mad they should probably reconsider why.

There would have to be add ons

Take out Draisaitl , add in Fayne , Ference and a 3rd.

To Edmonton
Ellis

To Nashville
Fayne
Ference
Edmonton 3rd in 2019

Somehow you managed to make an even worse proposal than the original one.

Trade a solid and still young top 4 guy on a steal of a deal for a 37 year old who played 6 games last year, an overpaid bottom pairing guy in Fayne and a 3rd rounder 3 years from now which is pretty much a crapshoot.

Good job.

Draisatl is pretty high up on my "Potential 1C" list, I just think some of these perceptual valuations started during the first half of last season (which was insane production) and never stopped. Nobody likes to address the fact that Draisatl only scored 19 points in his last 41 games.

RyJo scored 12 points in 40 games at the same age. I'm not worried at all about Draisaitl's development. He's ahead of other big centres like RyJo and Scheifele at the same age.

Yes draisaitl has more value than Hall.
Young, big, skilled center is something every team in the league would trade for.

Give me a break! Yes Draisaitl is a good young player but 72 NHL games (Obviosuly there is the exception like McDavid) is nowhere near enough to think he has more value than Hall. Now if he puts up better numbers next season and the season after that then sure but as it relates to right this second no way.

Maybe if we gave the Oil our top 4
Josi-Subba
Ekholm-Ellis

They might give us Yak and a 5th(protected)

Drai has more value than Hall.

50+ points in his first full NHL season. Excellent size and hockey IQ as well. He also plays centre, not wing. Centre's and Dmen have nearly identical relative value, whereas wing has lower relative value.

Hall had more value than Draisaitl 3 weeks ago, I highly doubt him being traded suddenly makes him less valuable.

According to who? NHL GM's clearly value centres and D more than wingers. I feel pretty confident saying that Chia probably valued Draisaitl more than Hall for a number of reasons including position, size/play style, age, projection.

Yeah maybe the top centers of the league...Draisaitl isn't a top center. Hall is arguably a top 5 LW in the game.

Surely you're not saying Draisaitl is going to be a top 5 center in the game? We're talking McDavid, Eichel and Mathews at the very minimum when Drai is in his prime.
