Value is close. Maybe take out the 2019 3rd and add in the Korpikowski buyout penalty. Nashville trades an offensive minded Dman for a bigger, defensive minded one, plus another player that is a great community ambassador. The Korpikowski buyout penalty is just added to balance out the trade so it's not so heavily lopsided in Nashvilles favor.

 What? How is the value close? Fayne and Ference blow.

We are valuing trades based on how great of a community ambassador an over the hill hockey player is?

That is the exact mindset that has put Edmonton in this conundrum they are in now. You got a one-dimensional D man for a 1st line player in Hall.

We got a #2 defenseman for a one-dimensional winger in Hall. :sarcasm:

Sarcasm, but not entirely untrue. And Larsson might not be as "one dimensional" as most think he is. He was deployed as a shut down defenseman. Had very few opportunities to put points up. And as a pure shut down guy, he still would have been 2nd in defense points on our team last year. Devils fans claim he is a great passer and has a good shot. It depends on his role in Edmonton I think. I'm hoping that the analysis most Devils fans are giving us is accurate. If it is, Larsson is much more than a "one dimensional" defenseman and will see a big increase in points.

No way Taylor Hall gets traded for a #3 like Larsson

So you are saying we should follow one desperation move where we overpaid...

... with another desperation move where we overpay?

Don't you think the conditions may have changed a touch?

Oilers will not trade Draisaitl for Ellis now that they have a #4 Dman.

Your post doesnt mean anything. Larsson and Ellis are vastly 2 different talent levels of defense men.

I dont trade Draisaitl for Seth Jones let alone Larsson let alone downgrading even further to Ellis. The troll train of Oiler players has gone off the rails on this thread.

Hall > Drai
Larsson > Ellis

And that is being generous to the Oilers!

HA!!! right..

Lol. Those of us in Islander's country call that the Hamonic Boom! Spare parts for a top 4 pairing defenseman. In the pixels of NHL 2012 and the hearts of Oil fans worldwide.

That being said I would never trade LD for Ellis. The guy just barely asserted himself as somebody who isn't going to be sent down to the AHL anymore. He isn't suddenly a stud. I used to track him on my fantasy team and he was an aggravating putz. Of course now I wish I still had him, but he's not suddenly as good or as talented as LD.

do you think Chia would do this straight up? would you? or would there have to be ++ from one side or the other or both? the Oilers would get a puck moving RD they still need.

In terms of value, it's pretty comparable to Hall for Larsson.

ellis doesn't = draisaitl. Obvious additions would be coming from Nashville's side but i'm really hoping the above is a joke.

lopsided in Nashville's favor? Christ almighty, GM of the year over here

Did you bother looking at the post that sarcastic reply was in response to?

No. It was an absolutely atrocious counter-proposal that almost no one took seriously, so their remark, which was surely sarcasm, was not "fair enough." This need for people to see one bad proposal and counter with an even worse one is incredibly annoying. :shakehead

Edmonton isn't going to offer anything Nashville would take for Ellis, and Nashville isn't going to shop Ellis until they have another RHD who can move into the NHL without being rushed to start playing top 4 minutes. We've seen teams rush young players only to have them disappoint. Nashville does not need to get into that habit.

Chia got more quality back for Hall than the Leafs did for Larsson. Wingers are not that valued.

Draisaitl for Ellis? Horrible for the Oilers. By the end of next season Draisaitl could be worth a boat load as a potential no1 center.

I'd do a 2017 1st rounder for Ellis, but that's not going to help Nashville win now , so they most likely decline. But this Draisaitl talk for Ellis is madness
