The update tomorrow will be whether he plays or not.Knowing this team, there’s no reason to expect any sort of update tomorrow. Usually they need to get “home” first before they say anything remotely revealing.
Oh sure but I doubt he plays. The update tomorrow will be whether he plays or not.
It was such a nothing hit, my GodOh sure but I doubt he plays.
What a horrible season it’s been for him.
I mean his head went into the boards a bit... I wouldn't call it a nothing hit by any stretchIt was such a nothing hit, my God
As hockey players you kind of need to use your athleticism to avoid the disaster scenarios. Bad luck I guessI mean his head went into the boards a bit... I wouldn't call it a nothing hit by any stretch
It looked like his head was driven into the boards. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a facial injury instead of a concussion. It was such a nothing hit, my God

Exactly.. it's a 5 on 3 and he trys to squeeze through a guy. Like why do that? Pass it up and gain the zone. Your up 2 men broOnce again putting himself in a vulnerable position. Not a good trend that he keeps doing this.
Happy birthday Leo:
You're not a teenager anymore
Wish he were mature both physically and mentally already.Mature mutant ninja Leo?
The Ducks’ opening tally was Carlsson’s first goal in six games. The 20-year-old Swede became the youngest player in Ducks history to reach 20 career NHL goals beating out teammate Mason McTavish by 250 days.
This is true. Again, guys like Bedard, McDavid, Crosby, Celebrini etc. are the exception, not the rule.Zack Cavanaugh said this in an article after the game tonight:
I think this puts into perspective what Carlsson is going through. Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan, Terry, etc... all had more time to develop before the NHL. Carlsson just needs time and no more injuries.
Agree in part and disagree in part. This is true. Again, guys like Bedard, McDavid, Crosby, Celebrini etc. are the exception, not the rule.
For me the talent is there, the vision is there, the IQ to make plays that other players simply don't have the skill and mindset to even attempt, it's all there. He just needs to get stronger and work on his timing, and get actual linemates. Killorn and Leason would be fourth liners on most teams and their abject lack of chemistry isn't helping Leo at all. If anything he's been more prone to try to take the puck to the net himself and rarely tries to set his linemates up because it looks like he doesn't trust them. And why should he? He fed Killorn near the crease for a high danger chance, and Killorn settled the puck, waited a second after positioning it on his backhand and flung it well wide of the goal. It's just par for the course. Strength and experience will help him improve naturally.
But he needs better linemates and he needs better guidance on cleaning up his mistakes. I worry that this tendency he's built up to try to bull the puck through traffic by himself is going to detract from him honing his strengths. He needs to get better at knowing when to retreat and look for space. He's a smart enough player to do it. It just hasn't clicked yet.
This game against the Jets was the first time since that Kartye hit where he provided a small glimmer into how dominant he can become. His transition into the o-zone for his goal is something he hasn't done in a minute, that steam train type of momentum through the neutral zone whilst under control of the puck is so fun. He was also very good on the forecheck today, and did well along the boards. Would also like to add that although the points haven't been there, I think he is still playing a good defensive game for his age. This is true. I agree he needs to get stronger and better line mates. The line mates are the bigger issue.
Where I disagree is that I marvel how Leo seems to almost always be "in the right place" and make a good decision. I think the puck (dis)possession issues are a direct result of his linemates not being up to par.
I think it is a question of "when" not "if." The results will come at some point as he develops and plays with better talent.
I don't know that I agree. He had flashes in all three games I attended last week, it was just more pronounced last night because he had fewer instances of trying to bull past 2-3 defenders at once and losing it. I agree with everything else. This game against the Jets was the first time since that Kartye hit where he provided a small glimmer into how dominant he can become. Fowler raved about Leo on chiclets and talked about how good he’s going to be.
