Again, if Pat thought he'd elevate his game in the 2nd part of the season, perhaps something is not fully going per plan

Have you guys thought that maybe he's playing hurt. I don't think that knee is 100 percent. . I think he's over thinking things.

Could be still some sort of an adjustment period, but could be also that the Leo plan did not go as smooth as planned.

Still some games left, perhaps he can pick it up eventually. If not, npt sure what to expect next year

An 18-year old kid being a rookie in the NHL who's scoring rate is at 0.58 ppg struggling in the second half. It's happened to many 18 and 19 year olds like Drysdale and McTavish. Carlsson will work out during the summer and we'll look for improvements, especially now that he needs to adjust to the narrower rink, there's less time to process as well as do things. Mac improved his FO% from 42.3% to 53.3% and his scoring rate from 0.54 ppg rate to 0.78 ppg rate. Yet, Mac needs to improve his balance, discipline, and defensive awareness on both sides of the ice.

I think if Carlsson would have been left in the AHL, then he probably would be dominant all season and it would have been a good acclimation to NA ice on a consistent basis. The system at the NHL level is the same at the AHL level, so it would have been a good primer.

Usually, top-10 picks are often self-driven to always improve. Carlsson be driven to improve his game over the summer, but how much he improves and where he improves could vary. It may take years before Carlsson is a superstar.

Leo is more than fine, Don’t think he is struggling as some people are saying. Don’t get me wrong he Is still struggling but don’t put all the blame on him. Was looking at some stats. Possession numbers are very good. He is on the ice for more shots for than against, he is creating chances, had 7 attempts last game (5 on goal), he is snake-bitten like Zegras was earlier this season. He needs to bury chances, yes, but his line-mates need to do the same when he is making great plays to them.

His production is down but that‘s not all on him. He is not getting as much PP time like he was in the beginning of the season, Hasn’t had a PPP since Dec 13th, Ducks PP went ice cold, and yeah here we are. His unit just doesn’t get the opportunities as much as the vet unit does now.

Remember he had a goal taken away which I still question, and also had a nice SO goal which sadly doesn’t count on the score-sheet.

Happy to see his 22 game goal scoring drought come to a end in yesterdays win against the Sharks

As I said above , He did have a goal against Toronto but Toronto, Toronto’d

Also had that nice SO goal. I was hoping he’d produce around a .65 PPG clip, but .50 PPGish is not bad at all for a rookie on this team who is not getting as much PP time as of late.

Leo has looked good in spurts. You need to account for the fact that he's playing with a less talented ducks roster around him AND other teams are now focusing on stopping him. He'll be fine.

Based on the hype and Pats comments, I expected more. At the same time, super happy to have him

He really never got hype from day one. A lot of Ducks fans here wanted Fantilli over him. Leo has played better than Fantilli and better overall than Bedard (don’t care how many points he has, he has no defense)

The production is not where I’d hoped, but it’s close, but it’s not all on him, he had points taken away from the league(most on the team), and they took PP time away from him to favor the vet unit which I can I understand from a a coaching staff perspective, since that unit has been producing.

A couple of multi point games and he will be back on pace for a very good rookie season.

He’s still 3rd in PPG for rookies who’ve played >40 games.

he never said that he expected him to reveal all of that in his rookie year. And I think he’s shown elements of everything Pat talked about
He’s also keeping pace, actually slightly ahead, with Fantilli. Most pre draft commentary said Fantilli was a more refined prospect, and that Carlsson was a bit more raw. Taking that into consideration I think he’s doing more than fine. His issue right how is execution, it appears his brain is reading the play faster than his body is allowing him to complete the play. He’ll get that timing down.

I was on team Fantilli prior to the draft, but Leo's progress in the past year has been incredible. Not only do I think the Ducks made the right choice, but I think that Leo is closer to Bedard in terms of potential than Fantilli is to Carlsson, and for someone who was really high on Fantilli last summer and watched both of them in the WC, that says a lot I think.
