My apologies for even noticing your original comment about the lemons. It was supposed to be a bit of fun but somehow it went way off the rails.

Barely on the rails

That's an absolutely gorgeous play from Lenni. Holy shit. Brilliant display of his hockey sense and work ethic right there. Don't think you can sum up the player any better than that play.

I've said it before, but pace of play is a lot of times way more valuable than skating ability. Slow players that play fast are way more effective than fast players that play slow. There's a reason that even though Lenni is not the fastest, he is always involved around the puck. It's because of his insane hockey sense and his work ethic.

“Lenni Hämeenaho, RW (NJD): He scored Finland’s first goal and was generally dangerous offensively throughout the game. Hämeenaho made some high-skill, soft-touch plays and was competitive in the hard areas of the ice as well. He was on last year’s World Junior team and almost certainly will be again this year, in a much larger role.”

I'm very critical for guys with bad skating. But I'm cheering for Lenny, because he is our guy and his positional game and IQ are great. I believe if he will develop his skating with the puck to average or even little below average level, he should be very interesting player with potential to be top 6 player. And he doesn't need to be top 6, we signed all of our top 6 pieces for years.
I believe with Gritsyuk, Holtz, Bardakov, Lenny, Filmon Devils will shake top 6 and will able to build strong top 9 with great players for different role for years.

At least he’s having success at high level competition despite his current limitations. That’s a good sign and you have to believe he will work on the skating issues. As a second round pick if he developed into a third line player that would be great result.

Honestly I think it's a perfectly fine gamble to make with a 2nd round pick.

I'm rooting hard for him
There were available centers with higher ceiling(because of combo of good skills) and may be even lower risk, we really needs.
But again, late second round pick, high iq, high competent level, effort. I’m not a big fan of pick, but Im rooting for the player very hard.

Devils should have selected Gracyn Sawchyn or Riley Heidt over Hameenaho. I'm not saying Hameenaho was a reach, there were better players available. This is especially true when a team lacks a first-round pick.
