I would argue his skating "issues" last year were more due to a lack of necessary puck skills and his pace of play rather than being a slow skater. You could see a lot of times where he didn't have the puck on his stick where he showed off some fairly quick skating, but I just don't think he had the puck skills to be able to play like that with the puck on his stick. You saw it a lot of the time when he'd try to use a burst of speed in game trying to put a move on a defender and he'd lose it a lot of the time. Increasing puck skills will lead to him getting more confidence and with more confidence you will see him skate a bit faster with the puck on his stick. Either way, it is nice to see him consistently ramp up his pace of play. Definitely bodes well for his potential of being more of an offensive player in the NHL.
I would argue it was more about skating and coordination with the puck. He made good things by his hands but could fall or couldnt change direction etc.

May be we are trying and tried to talk about the same by different words. In my case its not that special.

Ässät wins 6-0. Lenni with 0 points, 0 shots, & 1 broken stick. I don't want to be an alarmist, but it's over.

No, there are issues with his mechanics. It’s in various scouting reports. I talked about it when I saw him.

Skating mechanics is tough to judge from game video, you need to see a player live. Or at least a video shot to focus on their individual skating.

His skating reportedly improved during his draft year. He focused on his skating this off-season, particularly his acceleration.

He plays at a great pace, that helps. Liiga is a slower paced, grindy league too.

It wasn’t a myth, this wasn’t just in US draft guides, someone posted a Finnish article that said his skating would keep him out of the 1st round.

Yeah been a difficult game for the whole team, but now bounces are even at 1-1 with 10mins left.

Edit. 2-1 win for Ässät with a late goal. Lenni with 5 shots taken and 16:28 ice time. Not much to write home about outside the result.

I watched the replay 5 times or so… when does the 2 on 1 happen?
I expect more compassion from you as a leader. When a teammate makes a mistake on a zealous post of a prospect goal you could be nice when pointing it out as opposed to snarky. Don't make me regret keeping you up with the big club.

It was quite boring game to watch. Lenny was good still overall. I missed a part because my wife asked me to buy some food. Damn household chores.

Lenni goal after some mighty nice passing! 2-2 with 5min to go.

Some great chances from that 1st line today. Solid game by Lenni so far.

edit.

Wow, that just looked scrummy from the first angle, thought he buried a rebound.
