i actually dont think a real rebuild would've been better. we've seen the players both this GM and the previous management hitched their wagons to. i dont have confidence that they could actually have executed a successful "full" rebuild. getting tons of high picks doesn't mean shit, Edmonton had like 5 first overall picks in a row in the 2010's and they still sucked because their front office was lost.

Florida just won the cup while paying Bob 10 mil, Stolarz 1.1 mil, and Knight 3.385 mil (in the AHL).
If we make smart moves, we can absolutely win with a 11.5 mil starting goalie. Can we make those smart moves? Our track record suggests not.
