News Article: Lebreton

Forbes is massively overrated for these things. It’s a novelty list. Billionaires have routinely lied to them with respect to their wealth and they continue to publish those lists.
As long as none of its public it’s just a game.
The billionaires list and NHL valuations aren't the same

The next NCC public board meeting is apparently scheduled on June 23. Is it expected that they'll announce the new development proposals on that date?

The NCC have a meeting 20 June. Open for public, I believe annoncement would be made

I won’t hold my breath, the NCC is more dysfunctional than the Sens front office.

They are a lot better than they used to be. I'm confident it will work out now that Eugene "I don't understand how to properly use the leverage I have" Melnyk will not be involved.

well the Melnyk backed bid, did win the previous competition….. so perhaps the leverage of owning an NHL franchise did factor into the decision.

I have yet to see anything that would lead for me to think that they’re “better than they used to be”….. perhaps you have an example?

Boo-boo with the scoop

Garrioch also took potshots at Jim Watson:

And, the NCC has a chance to give the people what they want: an opportunity to take Mayor Jim Watson’s Light Rail Transit line (if it’s working that night) to a downtown arena so they can see the Senators take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Battle of Ontario.

No bias. Lol.

Hope it works out this time and we do see the Senators in downtown.

This is clearly what the Melnyks were waiting for before selling. Makes the team way more valuable from a leverage standpoint.
Good point. Yet if it was true you would think it was true for the first go around yet Melnyk did his part in torpedoing it.

Why would two twenty somethings want to own an NHL team in a city they've never lived in that barely cash flows? They can cash out on and collect hundreds of millions. They aren't a power hungry old man that loves hockey. Use a little common sense here. There are multiple bidders on this team right now. They're driving up the price while the estate is being settled.

They are thinking about their grandchildren and their grandchildren's grandchildren.

Keeping it is in the family for generations... building a dynasty to make daddy in heaven proud. :naughty:

They already have hundreds of millionz. They don't need to sell to get more. This is all about the charities, and helping people.

....they may get other partners down the line.

Lol, yeah, people buy sports teams because they are all about the charities and helping people...

I wasn't being a smart ass, it was an honest question and all I meant is that the same sentiment toward a sale could have been attributed to Melnyk in the first go around considering the city was at peak #MelnykOut and the train was going off the rails faster than ever before.

This always seems like wishful thinking to me.

They already have 100’s of millions outside of the team, will also inherit another Melnyk fortune from their mom, and the whole point of making brand changes is to start the cash flowing, and this is already happening.

To me, common sense would dictate that they would not want to sell the NHL team, why would they? Owning an NHL team that was your fathers legacy left to you is pretty cool. With the right people in place to run the day to day, they could be like any other private owners.

If I was in their situation at 20 there is zero chance I would sell the team; zero. I would be a gazillionaire, and own an NHL team. I hope they keep the team and continue to make the changes that they want to see. It’s a great story. We really don’t need another insanely rich old white dude at the helm in my opinion.
