So if he backs out due to competing ideologies due to Trinity, would he not just resubmit another proposal to the NCC with another backer? I can see someone else shacking up with the crazy girl because she is Hot(sens arena downtown being the Hot point).
Would another developer not see how Devcore lost due to the fact the that RDV came with the NHL? It could be 2 years ago all over again but with someone else. behind EM.

Fans have all the power. They're the customers, and can decide to spend or withhold their money. A business is only a business because of customers, and the NHL, alongside every other owner, knows this.

There's a reason why "the customer is always right" is a common phrase.

That's not how it works anymore.

These days if the customer isn't buying the product, there's something wrong with the customer. Or so we're led to believe.

The perception may change, but the fact does not. The customer still holds the balance of power in any sales situation. If the customer doesn't want what you're selling, you can bitch and moan about it all you like but it still won't put money in your pocket.

As per the RFP, Devcore gets the next shot at the can.

How long can Melnyk run the team at the cap floor with 10k attendance? That's the question.

And if a new arena is built how long can he keep up without revenues from events at the CTC on top of low attendance? Won't even take a year.

If by some miracle we have a new owner the first move needs to be firing Dorion into the sun.

Would you not be interested in seeing what he could with an actual owner who can back an NHL team?
He has shown his creativity with the small resources he has, it could be something to see if he had full autonomy.

He's creative I'll give you that.

But

Got bent over in the Burrows deal and contract. He decided to give a pricy contract to Burrows knowing he had limited ressources.

Got bent over in the Hoffman deal and took back Boedker instead of picks.

Condon contract was bad.

I liked the Duchene deal at the time if it wasn't for his lack of vision and the 2nd Brassard deal as well but I'd be scared to see what this guy does if he had money.

Next steps for Melnyk:

1. He is sane, sells the team in the next 2 months.
2. He is sane, is holding out for the best financial outcome from Trinity-willing to take it to the 11th hour.
3. He is insane, lets the deal fall through and insists on keeping the team.
4. He is somewhat insane and realizes whoever replaces at Lebreton may need a team (potential seller) and holds out to sell to them. There are a number of variables that make this a very risky and potentially disasterous move.

This is a good list but it's #2 of course. They're arguing over money, that's the basis for every single negotiation, especially rich greedy guys. Bit of time yet.

Bettman won't step in yet but you can bet he'll make a couple of phone calls to ensure he knows what's going on. He's a financial laywer he knows better than anyone that deals get done in the 11th hour. This isn't a dispute with some level of government where you never know the outcome, it's between a couple of greedy men. Someone should be able to help divide up the pie in time.

Just the sight of his face makes me fly into an uncontrollable rage. #pass

Actually, I’m quite intrigued as to how he will respond.

"Mr. Melnyk is the owner of the team and it's his right to pull out of any partnership that isn't suitable for the franchise. He's expressed concern over the condo development in the past, and it's a valid concern that others have also referenced. There is an established fan base in Kanata that he needs to consider, and he can commit to making the team viable there. And since he is the sole owner, he can also relocate the team, if fan support in Kanata continues to be poor. He has numerous options and will make the best decisions for his business."

That's how it'll go.

At the Season ticket holder forums, Gene lamented that his partners had bought up Lebreton area land and were looking to build their own condos to compete with the partnership's.

As bitter a curmudgeon as he is, his next move will probably be done to spite them. Hopefully selling to other entities and not finding new partners. Hopefully before his crumbling body gives out and his daughters inherit and inflict the flawed gene pool logic on running the team until the inevitable bankruptcy.

First of all, source?

Nice, first those dummies don't give Euge the $$$ he deserves. And now the protect him of being ousted because billboards...

Just one thing I'd like to know from you, what drugs?
No source hence the opinion. A boycott is one thing, good way to show your feelings, the billboards were stupid and an embarrassment to the city and its citizens. Probably the same losers who marched around Parliament Hill when Spezza was traded lol.
