There was one incredibly subtle low key skill move he did down low almost behind the net to pull the puck between is feet from an incoming leaf and out the other way - I chuckled when I saw it because it was such a thing we see from Fox.
I really hope he keeps pushing ahead. On that play where he corralled the airborne puck and did enough to shake the defender to still get a great feed over to Taco which lead to Chytil's 2nd goal. I'm trying not to get too excited, just keep building on it.
As good as they were, I don't think the kid line is actually the answer. Put Laf and Kk with Zib, put Chytil with Panarin (nothing else is working) and probably Krav, then CK with Tro and either Goodrow or Vesey for the 'checking' line
Genuinely curious what the knights record was when they fired him after going to the finals?
Whatever, stay in your anti-Gallant echo chamber if that's what gets you cised.
What’s the initiation fee for this country club? Is there a waiting list? How’s the food?
And look peter deboer was 15-5-2 after taking over for him. Much better with the same team.![]()

I don't think it helps Mika, but overall I think he helps Laf and KK, plus gives them 1st line minutes and matchups. In other words, the kids need to spread out to help the veterans? LOL.
I don't remember him being that good in the last 2 rounds but the numbers do say otherwise. To your ECF point, He was .910 in the first round (Pittsburgh), .949 in the second (Carolina) and .933 in the third (Tampa).
I'd say he most certainly bounced back after the Pittsburgh series and played exceptional the last two.
And look, they hated the next guy (deboer) too. Just like you all would. And look peter deboer was 15-5-2 after taking over for him. Much better with the same team.
Wonder why?
Not lately. And by "lately" I mean the last 25% of the season.Because a guy like Hughes is young and their best player. They don't have a Krieder, Fox, Mika, and Panarin on their PP. All proven elite PP guys.
Kreider has ONE power play point in his last 18 games.
Panarin has only THREE power play points in his last 20 games.
Zibanejad has just SIX PP points in his last 20 games.
Trocheck has just THREE PP points in his last 20 games.
Collectively, PP1 has scored just SEVEN power play goals in the last 20 games. At a quick count, they have had Fifty-Six full PP opportunities during that span. That means that, strictly speaking about the PP1 unit, they have been converting at a rate of only 12.5%, which puts them dead last in the league over the last 20 games (several % points below the next worst team).
The first power play unit has been broken for nearly a quarter of a season, and it has been dead entirely for a good 10 game stretch (only 2 PPG's in the last 10 games--only one in the last 9).
The fact that that can happen, and GG can just state outright that those guys are too good to be held accountable in any way is setting an absolutely toxic standard for the rest of the roster.
Deboer is a good coach. Gallant took an expansion team to a 109 point season and a trip to the finals. When was the last time that was done? Oh yeah. Never. And look peter deboer was 15-5-2 after taking over for him. Much better with the same team.
Wonder why?
So what? What about the last 3 years? Sometimes coaches place more emphasis on that than the "what have you done for me lately" crowd like so many on this board. Not lately. And by "lately" I mean the last 25% of the season.
Its not like that expansion team was bad with all the rules in place for them. They consistently have had a good team for their entire existence, and last year was just ravaged by injuries.Deboer is a good coach. SORRY BUT THAT IS A LIE ! The Kid line was not benched. The fourth line was benched to match up Toronto doubleshifting Marner, Mathews and Nylander in the second half of the third.Kids played from 10:49 -9:37 so1:12(an almost double shift) and then on again 2 minutes later from 7:25- 5:53 for a double shift of 1:32 and then again from 4:11 -3:30 and 2 more short shifts for Kakko and 1 for Chytil.Weird how we fell a part in the last 10 mins of the game while the kid line was benched
I mean its a pretty simple strategy that most good coaches abide by. Play the hot hand. All he has to do game in and game out is ride the guys who are playing their best. Like literally that's it. It's super simple.
Their over/under before their inaugural season was high 60's and certainly last in the league. Its not like that expansion team was bad with all the rules in place for them. They consistently have had a good team for their entire existence, and last year was just ravaged by injuries.
And each year he coached them they actually won less.
Truth !That is entirely on panarin. 3 on 3 is take your own man and miller was focused on his guy while panarin lost position and gave up on defending (normal) and tried to hand him off to a defender that was already worried about his own guy. That's all on panarin.
It adds support to the theory that the Rangers don't handle their young high-end forwards well. As opposed to other teams that shove icetime at similar players. You know this is true. What irks me most (and I'm sure many on here) is that we are literally well past the midway point of the season and finally we see some legit glimpses of high skill/high confidence in Laf (and the trio playing together) and we don't see them as much as we should see them down the stretch of this game.
Mika and Bread played 2 minutes out of the last 3 minutes of regulation (back to back 1 minute shifts)Losers
Loser Vets
Loser Coaching Staff
Kids had 1 shift in the final 7 minutes or so
I don't care. He did something that was never done before. I'm sure he had a little to do with their success. His teams play for him as does this team. People who think this team is going to be magically transformed into the '84 Oilers with a new coach are kidding themselves. Its not like that expansion team was bad with all the rules in place for them. They consistently have had a good team for their entire existence, and last year was just ravaged by injuries.

BC Pp 2 actually has been looking better than PP 1 for a while.
PP1 looks like shit lately. And trocheck is horrible.
Like whats the worst that can happen if he switches up the PP. We still dont score? You can always go back to original Pp units.
There is a break before OT buds. They got walked because it was poor coverage. What would happen to the kids? And what are you saying should happen with Mika and Bread?Mika and Bread played 2 minutes out of the last 3 minutes of regulation (back to back 1 minute shifts)
Coach then put them out to start OT. They got walked by Marner because they were gassed
Imagine what would happen if one of the kids got walked like that in OT.
Water under the bridge for those vets tho
The double standard is just nuts
