They have a Norris winner, a vezina winner, a Hart winner they get half effort from, a top all around center and a 50 goal winger. Not to mention 1st round draft picks of ours throughout the lineup. We would’ve killed to have any of those guys in the Henrik era. Gallant is not getting enough out of this team. We should at minimum be 1st in the metro when you look at the teams from a talent perspective.
you are overstating the amount of talent. Panarin is not a hart level player anymore, Zibanejad is not one of the top centers in the NHL and Kreider isn't a 50-goal scorer. If you compare the Rangers top-6 to all the other top teams in the East, they really don't match up. Tampa, Boston, Toronto, NJ, even Pittsburgh still have better top of the lineups. carolina might not on paper but they play a certain way that doesn't rely on having elite talent. Gallant has no control over the goalie.

You know this is true. What irks me most (and I'm sure many on here) is that we are literally well past the midway point of the season and finally we see some legit glimpses of high skill/high confidence in Laf (and the trio playing together) and we don't see them as much as we should see them down the stretch of this game.
The kids haven't been benched for in-game mistakes (as opposed to GG just shortening the bench) in ages, but once a board narrative is written...

Kids had 1 shift in the final 7 minutes or so
I love how you guys just make up stuff. I recorded and played it again. They were on from 7:25-5:53 so basically a double shift of 1:32 . Then they were on from 4:11 to 3:30 . Kakko was on twice more for short shifts and Chytil once more. Toronto was double shifting Marner and Mathews in the final ten minutes and had basically benched their fourth lines. Turk followed suit and benched our fourth and tried to match our top 2 lines with theirs which by the way is something you usual suspects say he never does. The kids played great tonight but let's put that in perspective. For the most part (I did notice 1 shift they didn't get their match) they were matched against Toronto's 3rd line. Would have been a helluva difference had they played against Marner, Nylander, and Mathews all night. They benefit from playing on the third rotation.

I assume you're referring to me even though I'm the guy that says there's very little difference between coaches. I've written that multiple times, here. Ask @Machinehead if you doubt me.

You're part of the group that believes that if the Rangers had a real coach, they'd win the Cup,

There is no other conclusion that can be drawn because they made it to the final 4 with this absolute moron. A good coach would easily have won it all last season, else your position makes zero sense. Or are you saying a good coach would have beaten Tampa and then lost in the Finals? That's such a stupid thought that no one believes it.

Kreider missed a tap-in to an empty net and then got beaten by his man for the tying goal and all the usuals blame Gallant. It's because Gallant forgot to tell Kreider to deflect it in and he forgot to tell him not to lose his man in the defensive zone late in the game. Damn that Gallant.

The best news for you is you got the result that stirs you into a red-hot rage that makes you feel validated. You actually prefer losing to winning because you think it will hasten Gallant's exit. Then you'll moan endlessly that that the new guy, whomever he is, is not the right guy for the job, or washed up or.....

They lost in OT, on the road, to the 2nd best team in the NHL.

The sky is falling and some are acting like their hair's on fire, like after every single loss.

P.S. You guys also better let Chytil know to cut it out because young forwards don't develop in NY. He's ruining another prevailing narrative.
Can vouch.

So if we learned anything from tonight, it doesn't matter how well the kids could be playing, they could be dominating one of the best teams in their own building for stretches at a time, Gallant will always defer to the veterans, and that shit ain't gonna change. We can only hope Drury sees it and does something about it at some point.

This is what we have right now and the rest of 2023.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't see how anybody else gets more than 110 point regular season and a trip to the ECF out of that roster last year. Maybe this year you could make a better case but they are still on a 102 point pace and in solid playoff position. I just think people expecting the team to play so much better with a new coach would be disappointed with the results.

On Matt Painter's radio show a caller asked him what goes into his lineup decisions. He recalled a few years ago when they started the season 6-5 and all the noise he heard was that he HAD TO reduce Grady Eifert's minutes. Eifert was a guy who previously rode the bench for 3 years. In this, his senior year, he would go on to play 25 mpg and average 5 ppg. VERY modest production. But in Painter's mind Eifert was the LAST guy who deserved to have his minutes reduced. He was doing everything asked of him.

The moral: Message boarders aren't coaches and points schmoints.

Edit: unless you think Painter should be fired too.

I do agree that we have paper-tiger talent against other teams' top talent. Our guys had career years and career stretches, but ive always felt like their games are too one-dimensional. Other top guys skill through different situations and plays.

Alot of that is true but Shesty hasn't been God like since late last regular season.

To your ECF point, He was .910 in the first round (Pittsburgh), .949 in the second (Carolina) and .933 in the third (Tampa).

I'd say he most certainly bounced back after the Pittsburgh series and played exceptional the last two.

Will Cullye and the Kids, Part II (because im on copium right now)

Cullye: you guys think I should go talk to Coach, see how he felt about my game?

Kid Line: no way! Too dangerous!

Laf: you see Kravt?

Cullye: no?

Laf: exactly. Tried to explain to Coach why he should be on the top line. He let us look at his cue cards he wanted to present to Coach. But Coach banished him to the shadow realm!

Cullye: oh boy

Kakko: yeah, man, he scratched me and never told me why either. Avoid eye contact with him at all costs

Cullye: Fil, you scored directly off a faceoff! That's awesome man!

Chytil: Coach told me not to do it again or I'll get reduced minutes. Too show-off.

Cullye: damn, you guys, I'm sorry

Also Laffy had another solid game. Really hope he maintains that confidence despite getting benched for no reason again.

Okay, i'm done venting I think. Really dumb night for the coach, if he deflects blame in the presser im gonna be really heckin mad.

There was one incredibly subtle low key skill move he did down low almost behind the net to pull the puck between is feet from an incoming leaf and out the other way - I chuckled when I saw it because it was such a thing we see from Fox.

I really hope he keeps pushing ahead. On that play where he corralled the airborne puck and did enough to shake the defender to still get a great feed over to Taco which lead to Chytil's 2nd goal. I'm trying not to get too excited, just keep building on it.

Cuylle: "Do we normally sit in the bathroom when we take the charter?"

Chytil: "Trocheck get two seats."

He wasn't great but no, he hasn't been bad.

Kravtsov is Gallant's go-to "I'm gonna scratch this guy for no reason" punching bag.

And I'm not saying every other coach doesn't do that.
I'm just surprised because he was scratched for a guy who played all season in Hartford. It's very possible he gets dealt at deadline or this summer.
