What he fails to acknowledge is the fact that NJ is a very good, competitive hockey team...and kids run their PP. One thing leads to the other. Trust and bigtime minutes help talented kids grow.
I mean its a pretty simple strategy that most good coaches abide by. Play the hot hand. All he has to do game in and game out is ride the guys who are playing their best. Like literally that's it. It's super simple.

I'm not nearly as mad at Kreider missing that tap in - that shit happens.

But I'm not keen on him giving that defenseman a clear lane to score the tying goal. THAT, was awful. Beer leaguer coverage.

But, I'm not wanting to fire the guy into the sun. I think he's back a touch too early from hurting his shoulder or whichever that recent injury was. I would have kept him offline rolling into the all-star break.

Zib, Fox and Panarin, yes. That leaves 2 spots. Just so happens we have a 1st and 2nd overall pick in their 3rd and 4th seasons already who could use such an opportunity , and have looked good on the 2nd unit in limited minutes playing with absolute plugs like Trouba, Blais and Goodrow at times.

Idgaf what he did last year Kreider has been a non-factor on the the PP all season.
Kreider absolutely has to be on the PP. He is still a very good net front presence. IMO he was missed when he was out. There is 1 spot open.

Cullye: you guys sitting for long stretches, does this happen often?

Kid Line: yes

Cullye: have you talked to Coach about it?

Kid Line: he doesn't talk to us. We communicate through paper tacked on the board

Cullye: interesting. Very interesting.
Coach G has a system called the "suggestions box" which we drop notes into and he emtpies into the paper shredder at the end of each day

Awful ending but a point against TO isn’t the worst thing. Kakko on that second goal had what, 3 takeaways and the primary assist? That was gorgeous.

Absolutely should have played the kids down to the wire especially after the time out. Ride the hot hands when nobody else is going.

On the biggest stage, in Toronto, for all to see. Gallant still couldn't resist. Lol.

kravtsov doesnt play...rangers lose. tried to warn

also kreider, trocheck, panarin took horrific to a new level tonight. how many no look passes can they put on the teams tape for an odd man before maybe they sit for a bit. i know gallant is loyal to his vets and honestly as much as people hate on it, it does go a long way in the room and that makes a difference. but theres a difference btw loyalty and recognizing guys are not on it tonight - kreider and troch specifically spent pretty much every shift pinned in their zone the entire time. that had absolutely NO business touching the ice in the final 10. this is where it is baffling how he can bench some players but others cant make enough mistakes to sit. i dont mind a longer leash, but seriously how much more obvious did it need to be that the troch/kreider/goodrow line was complete and total ass out there pretty much every shift they played. they keep jumping over the boards in the final 10 and eventually... what do you know they get pinned, troch is mia, kreider cant stay with his guy who puts the rebound in to tie.

panarin was at least involved some throughout the game, but his no look backhand across the blue line with like 8 to go up 1 goal was as braindead as braindead gets. and his work to end the night by not taking a stride inside his own zone letting marner go was why he really earned being included.

the only other awful play was kandre in ot. hes got probably 50 pounds on marner and waves his stick at him cutting across the top of the crease. buddy....wtf was that? he should have been crumpled. kandre could have taken the body no problem and decided to give the olay. hes been real good lately

on the bright side, the kids were unreal. all over the puck the entire night. easily coulda had a couple more goals. phenomenal effort from all 3. so good to see laf build off his first decent game in a while with a really solid effort tonight.

other than that the rest of the team was pretty meh. thought lindgren played a really strong game. made a lot of great plays to get breakouts going and was throwing the body. vesey was also really good when he moved to the top line. braden and kreider werent bad. refs werent awful but kinda insane they didn't see a single leaf interference or stick infraction all night. they did let em go both ways at times but for the things they nailed us with they sure applied a different standard the other way.

ok thats enough. thats one of the best teams in the league and it was a game the rangers probably should have won, but all in all it was two good teams going at it and toronto took advantage of a terrible line/effort to tie the game and the rangers didnt even make an attempt to compete in ot. mistakes will happen against those teams, wont win em all. theyre gonna get their chances too, so there is some leniency in evaluating the group - there just a couple who were horrid in both decisions and effort. i cannot wrap my head around the number of absolutely bonehead passes right to the leafs - specifically kreider and troch but panarin was also guilty of some doozies. but again, the kids. the kids were flying. how do they not start ot? there wasnt even a comparison btw them and anyone else tonight...reflect that in their ice time

he wasn't missed, nothing changed because he doesnt do anything. Most teams in the NHL don't even have a "net front presence" , they have guys who, ya know, can actually handle the puck

LOL he only shreds suggestions from the kids
No Panarin and his crew have a direct line

It would be cool if they were Mantle, or Chipper, or Bernie but we've only seen them with left handed sticks.

Yes and yes. Kreider is definitely not 100% and that coverage on the OT goal was brutal. Marner said in his post game interview that nobody came out to play him so he went around them.

Gallant needs to put some lines together and stick with it. The constant jumbling and shuffling and using players for different roles (Vesey, Goodrow all over the lineup non stop). How about some solid lines and some solidly defined roles? Is that too much to ask for?

He doesn't know what to do with McKegg not on the roster anymore. #themissingpiece

Disagree. He does plenty, was near the top in PP goals last year. Not as good this year but still needs to be there. I noticed a definite difference when Laf took his spot when he was out and it wasn't for the better.

Kreider has two PP points in his last 27 games. I mean, sure, Lafreniere didn't get any PP points those couple games on the top unit but I wouldn't say Kreider has been doing great there either. If I remember correctly the PP went dry even before Lafreniere was put on and Kreider was hurt so really it didn't make a difference.

He just said he was going to play his proven best PP players on the PP. Why is this even an issue except for the people who have an agenda?
BC Pp 2 actually has been looking better than PP 1 for a while.

PP1 looks like shit lately. And trocheck is horrible.

Like whats the worst that can happen if he switches up the PP. We still dont score? You can always go back to original Pp units.
