I have so much emotion from this game. First, I would have loved to throw Torts into the meat grinder, but ok. As a consolation, HabsUniverse is in total despair. I can call either of those a win.
I want the best possible lottery pick. But this team has balls and they don't quit.
I have the pride a father would have in their child when they get the word that their child found a sack full of money and turned it in because someone lost it and it was not theirs.
You just have to marvel in the moment that you raised them right and that because you did, they're better than you. They had a chance to sell out and passed when you probably would have taken it.
I've loved this team since 1986 when I first started following hockey. I was 14 years old.
It's the unconditional love you read about.

FTW. Let's go Rangers...

I think the only big money guy they will target is Panarin. I could see a few lower end UFA players on 1 year deals to help out. Who knows how well they will play? Half way through the year Buchnevich looked like a bust, he has really stepped it up. Chytil(Out I know now)Anderson and Howden , Georgiev and Deangelo all finished the season strong too. Everyone takes another step and who knows, it's not likely but you just never know.

Thats a ton of if's, a lot of this was said before this year too when I was assured by many that this team was better than they were getting credit for and were going to surprise everyone.

I'll repeat what I said prior to this season, the more ifs you have, the more likely you're going to suck. The most likely scenario is that not everyone is going to take a step forward, some will, some will stay where they're at, some will regress.

And thats before getting to the other variables that we can't predict like puck luck, injuries (where they've been ultra fortunate in both aspects this year) etc.

The other thing to consider is that this team has dealt away a ton of actual NHL talent in the last few years - Stepan,Miller,McDonagh, Nash, Grabner, Hayes, Zuccarello amongst others. Most of those guys have not been adequately replaced.

Even if you think they're going to sign Panarin, we're looking at a team that is at best, marginally better than this year's team, and thats if Kreider stays.

As long as the younger players like Howden, Chytil, Lias, Hajek, ADA take a step forward. I know next years draft is supposed to be strong but you are playing with fire going year after year with losing like this and the kids not getting better.

Pretty near every young player we had looked better at the end of the year than they did at the start, I have faith in the staff and the leadership group of the team that they will get these guys in the gym and ready for next year. The improvement that Buch showed at the end of this year is unbelievable.

Tomorrow nights games huge for Canes and Pens. If the Jackets win tomorrow vs sens the Canes need to win to avoid Tampa and the pens need to win to try to avoid dropping to wild card.

Do you not think that after the first year of a rebuild that this team competed night in and night out? I cant remember too many games that they didnt compete no matter who they played. The thing with a rebuild is that we are sticking draft picks so that we have a ton of if's and we are hoping that a 1/3 of the if's work out. As I said before,we are a 2nd line up front and 2 top 4 dmen away from competing for a playoff spot. It's only 5 players, important players yes but still with all the picks we had and will have those spots should get filled.

the worst part when we finish 6th is having to listen to all the anti-tank people say all summer 'see I told you that we'd never be bad enough to be a bottom 5 team and it would never happen'
Let's hope it doesn't happen but if we win tomorrow and edmonton loses we pretty much are where we were last year (actually more points) even after trading more top 6 forwards lol.

I think they've played hard and the results aren't for a lack of effort, but I think their competitiveness in these games has been a bit overrated.

They've gotten points in a bunch of games where they've gotten their teeth kicked in (tonight being hopefully the last in a long list of them.)

They have 4 wins over their last 19 games. This roster is largely what will be back next year.

In fairness, either way it’s arguing about about millimeters.

Ive notion they will resign Kreider this summer to get that extension rebuild is over if we win lottery or get a 5th pick. :)

Our future D line is in the pipeline already. ))

It's far from over.

glass half full...we were never winning the lottery, 0% chance, so the further we drop just means fewer teams behind us to jump over us and push us further back lol

Rebuilds are boring - I wish it was done and hopefully some world class D prospects in our farm. :)
We need some meaningful hockey soon - this is our second season without playoffs.

It was either rebuild or be stuck in a no mans land.

Next year we might be worse than this season depending what happens with Kreider.

I feel like it’s good mojo keep trying to win in these situations.

I actually had better luck with the tankathon simulator with us in the 6th position. Got #1 on the first spin. Then top 3 on the next two.

There was also that guy from South Carolina who just won the billion $ lotto. He let someone cut in front of him in line..

They really had to get a goddamn point, welp 4th bottom isnt happening but if we lose sunday we should get 5th bottom

Hey Rangers fans, thank your team for purposely jobbing themselves off just to do a Screwjob on Montreal. Hope you're proud of yourselves.

Jacka**es.

>=[

In fairness we screwed ourselves with our usual last minute push for loser points. Not like we went in as the favorites and underachieved.

We just find creative new ways to share the misery.
