Least favorite pick your team made

For the Wild, I don't think there's any pick I dislike. The guys I would have preferred at 42 had already been taken, and Firstov sounds like he has some good potential. The one pick I don't necessarily understand is Hunter Jones at 59, but I don't really know goalies, and they're so unpredictable anyway. I'm not upset about the pick, and I can't even say who I would have rather taken instead, so I'll wait to see how he turns out. I've heard some good things about him since the draft.

Pretty early still, but I was sooooo high on the Wings taking Sogaard this year, and it just so happens Tuomisto went 3 picks before him. So, I guess by proxy, Tuomisto.

I'm not totally thrilled with Simon Lundmark at 51 for the Jets, there were better available players in my mind.

Sens are one of the better draft and developement teams in the league. Even if often those players dont become stars(though some do like stone, karlsson) they find guys who can play different roles and fit within the team.

If the sens haven't fired the previous scouts(dont know how cheap melnyk is when it comes to managerial staff) then their track record should buy them some faith and time.
The Sens like Anaheim have coveted alot of the same guys in drafts......like Batherson for example, the Ducks really wanted him but took Badini & hoped he'd be in next round but Ottawa picks him.
Also Silfverberg was another one the Sens picked that the Ducks originally wanted, also thee Erik Karlsson was one that the Ducks tried to trade down to get but the Sens took him before that happened.

Which of your team's picks were you the most disappointed with? For Anaheim, I would say LaCombe. I still am ok with the pick, but I preferred other defensemen at #39.
I agree. I like the Tracey pick but LaCombe i don't get at all. I would have taken Hoglander a forward over him or Matthew Robertson and Alex Vlasic

Abruzzese but I'm not overly familiar with him, hopefully he's just a late bloomer who can contribute in the A soon.

Other than that I'm quite happy with the picks, and inviting Simoneau to the camp.

I am not saying my Islanders had a great draft but the 7th round pick bugs me. Cole Coskey could have easily just been signed as a UFA if the Islanders wanted him. He is a 20 year old who really didn't do much to stand out playing a position of team prospect strength(RW: Wahlstrom, Holmstrom and Ho Sang). I would have much rather swang for the fences and took some guy who had like a 1% of every playing in the NHL. My personally belief is with picks 5-7 your best bet is drafting guys in lesser leagues in hopes you find a diamond in a rough. A 20 year old player in the CHL generally is not going to slip through the cracks to fall to the 7th round

I should probably add their seemed to be a certain laziness to the Islanders 6th and 7th round basically picking 20 year old CHLers who were teammates of Dobson and Wilde

Probably Tomas Mazura when I originally watched the draft. I didnt know much about him. But after watching his video at training camp, really rooting for the guy, seems like a good kid, and one of the more interesting interviews you will see from a hockey player rather than the traditional bland interview.

Another Wings fan saying Tuomisto @ 35

I hope he is a big time success but looking at how it went down there was Lavoie, Hoglander, Vlasic, Rees still on the board and I liked all 4 of those guys quite a bit

Here's to hoping I can quote this post and laugh in ~5 years about how wrong I was

Have you seen him play?

Not anything meaningful, just reading reports and seeing highlights, admittedly. I've seen good and bad, and it's not so much disappointment that he was picked, but disappointed at who the Jets DIDN'T pick, that's all.

Was about to say Hunter Jones. I don't understand why Fenton traded up to pick him at #59. Portillo and Konovalov went #67 and #85, would choose one of them over Jones in a heartbeat.

Calgary didn’t make a bunch of picks, none of them came across as bad.

They took Pelletier what felt like early, But by the sounds of it, anyone from 20-50 had a chance at being drafted in the first round.

Like the third rounder on the Russian, like the next one on the Swede, maybe Nodler? Nothing jumps off the page, not that I cares about anyone still on the board.

Jacob Leguerrier for me - just seems vanilla.

That being said - I also wasn't too impressed with the Josh Brook pick or the Carey Price pick, among others, and I loved the Nikolas Koberstein pick and many other prospects you'll never have heard of, so... I'm happy following the Habs scouts...
