Leafs are 6 points up on Tampa both 77 games played

Leafs: 102 points
Bolts: 96 points

Leafs have 5 games left:
1)at BOS, 2)Vs MTL, 3)at FLA, 4)at Bolts, 5) at NYR

Bolts have 5 games left:
1)at NYR, 2)at NYI, 3)at OTT, 4)Vs Leafs, 5)Vs Wings

The max Bolts can get is 10 points so that will take them to 106 points. Leafs need at minimum 5 points to clinch home ice in that sense

If bolts lose at least 2 games and Leafs win 1 more game in the remaining 5 games Leafs still clinch the home ice ;)

Other scenarios:
Tampa goes 4-1; Leafs need 3 points
Tampa goes 3-2 Leafs need 1 point
Tampa goes 2-3 Leafs need 0 points

OT scenarios you can work them out too lazy to do that

Yup, home ice is overwhelmingly in the Leafs' favour but the Leafs have a tendency to do Leafy things :)

50 shots on a rookie goalie in front of an AHL lineup + Gaudreau and the rookie goalie finishes the game 2nd star.

Leafs in full playoff finish mode. Pat yourself on the back Keefe.

Greaves played a career game as his first NHL start… we were lucky he didn’t steal the game for the Jackets.

What has been our record in the last 5 games of the season to finish 2018, 2019 and 2021 and 2022? I always want to see them go into wrecking ball mode and finish strong with momentum but I don’t remember them doing that. You always get stuff like a Ryan Poehling hat trick and dropping games to lottery teams and people always just expect to flip the switch.
3 game win streak to enter last years playoffs and 7-1-1 in the last 9 games.

Ended the year prior with a regulation
loss, OTL the game before. Pretty hot overall down the stretch going 8-1-2

Didnt check the year before - tough to gain momentum with a ~ 3 month covid break

So what happens if Vasi has a good game in front of a contender lineup ?

Guaranteed loss.

Being dramatic but the theme here is consistent display of Keefe not having his team ready at all. All I see is disorganized and bad habit

Nylander and Tavares are contributing nothing at 5 on 5.. they should at least play well defensively but that's not the case

There can be no doubt that Woll is a much better goalie than Murray.
it wasn’t a pretty game but I will take the win

Yeah, 2020 definitely wouldn't count given how it ended due to Covid in the middle of the season.

I think I'm thinking of the 2018-19 season where they went L, W, L, L OTL and Poehling scored his hat trick in Game 82 and 2021 when the Leafs dropped the last two to Winnipeg and Ottawa as well as an OTL to Montreal.

Both goalies have played pretty well in their roles. There’s an argument for more depth in net and more insurance policy, sure. Or if you want to explore a bluechipper I don’t mind. But I don’t see them as a weak link at all.

Samsonov has done more than enough to be a 1A. Is a 1A. Woll has been incubating for so long you need to see what he is.

Woll is also no longer waiver exempt next season IIRC too .. he's earned a look next season to this point, and is signed for 2 more seasons

Doesnt seem like much of a connection in how we finish carrying into playoffs.

This is by no means a slam dunk -- securing home ice. Montreal will do everything on their power to try and beat us, as will the Dolts. Boston will be a challenge, even if they're resting the entire team. I figure we'll need to win two games to clinch. I figure that's probably all we'll get.

You certainly can't sit on a goalie prospect in his D+8 year if you don't have plans for him. Woll's time is now and next year. The plus is he's signed for a few years so if he breaks out we'll have a good cheap one. If not, it'll be onto something else.

Well, we never win in the playoffs in this era, so one of these years I'd like to go on a 10-0-0 heater if possible. Change it up. Get in the headspace of winning... by winning.

Anyone check the fancy stats on this game?

How is this team any different from other years? Look at the Jackets lineup. Corsi, xGF, HDCF%....you name it, we destroyed them.

Yet some random goalie puts up a save % we are used to seeing from scrub playoff teams when we get bounced.

If we were ready for round 1 against Tampa this game should have been a blowout. Getting goalied is literally the slogan of the Dubas Era.

Didn't look like a playoff ready team to me. Columbus is a horrible team and they took us to an empty netter. Time is running out to get our shit together. You reading this Keefe?

I still remember this game from last season when dirty pos kucherov tried to injure marner. here is hoping dubas talks to the league/refs before this regular season game against tampa

Sergachev also headshot Marner last year. Earlier this year Bellmare took a huge run at Marner at the end of the period, boarded him with no call.

Willie needs to watch a couple of games from the press box.

He has been playing without any sort of purpose since the trade deadline.

For such a great skater, he seems to be moving through tar out there, it's not a good look.
Willy hasn’t looked good since the trade deadline. Neither has Liljegren. I wonder if trading their good friend Sandin has something to do with it. They appeared to be pretty close. If that’s the problem, they have to get over it. We need both to be the best version of themselves for the playoffs.

Nylander is playing himself into dangers territory. He was finding a new consistent level as a legitimate MVP candidate for this team for much of the season, matching Marner in production and then it’s been a long backslide into inconsistency nearing the most critical time…

As the low man on the Big 4 pecking order with one year left on his deal, it just diminishes his bargaining position and sets up a situation where he’ll really need to step up in the playoffs or really feel the heat. You can’t move Tavares for another 2 years but what happens to Nylander if things don’t go well?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everyone has their ups and downs and there's still two weeks to go until the real games start. I'd bet on him being ready myself.
