I'm all for getting rid of Samsonov. He can't stop a beach ball in too many games due to poor positioning. It's been that way since he got to our Leafs. On average, he gives up one bad/easy goal a game IMHO.
In fairness, he finished top five in both save% and GAA last year.

It hasn't been all bad.

Obviously i really like Nylander and he's clearly close to marner as far as effectiveness, but he does go quiet for stretches that are slightly too long. It happens every year. The tavares contract really is a shame for this team because one of the top 4 will have to go and between the two i rate Marner just a bit higher than Nylander.

Hasn't gone quiet at all this season.

Insane game im having a stroke.
Smelling this ?

Neither of them are going anywhere, Tavares contract is up after next season and he either leaves or signs for much cheaper

I hope so. I would love Nylander, Marner, Matthews to stay here long long term.

There's just other variables at play when it comes to contract negotiations all the while trying to improve the team. Fact is they still need to improve the team with very little wiggle room. Not sure how nylander's contract will fit.

I really thought Nylander was pretty good tonight but that second line just is on the ice for far too many goals against.

I don't know if it's better to let Nylander go play on his own line but Bertuzzi doesn't help that line play a 200 ft game in any way

I thought Nylander had his worse game of the year tonight.

We will have lots of cap next season without any of Trelivings one year tryouts returning, but then we have to assume he makes good decisions with that cap space which I’m somehow doubtful about

Some positives from today's game, I thought that was the most impressed I've ever been by Robertson. Really encouraged by how he played today, had a more mature approach to the game than we've seen before. If he keeps that up I think he'll be our 2LW by the end of the season. And also that was by far Domi's best game as a Maple Leaf... He's gotta keep playing like that, with his feet moving and actually wanting the puck instead of dishing it off as soon as he gets it.

Unbelievable. You finally go with a lineup that makes some sense and goals are easy to come by. The fact that it took 12 games to put Knies on the top line, try someone with an ounce of offensive prowess at the 3rd line C and promote Robertson is facepalm worthy. The next step, which hopefully is coming shortly with him not playing the 2nd half of the game is scratching Reaves so we can run a real defensive 4th line so the entire lineup makes some actual sense for the first time this year.

Think you can officially write Knies name in pen on that top line. When Marner is on he is another level. Just need to see it more consistently.

Robertson is going to be a very important player on this team despite the bs narrative that consumes these boards and the media. Leafs need an energizer bunny who can also score goals. His work ethic is going to become infectious.

Don't see how we don't ride Woll as the number 1 goalie going forward, time to let him get his reps in.

Reaves doesn't have a spot on this team, surely one of Holmberg/McMann/Steeves can give us 8 to 9 mins a night.

Thought Robertson looked comfortable out there tonight, didn't try to do too much, just played his game.
