Hopefully not much longer. Signing Reaves and trading Lafferty to make room was a mistake. Especially considering our PK hasn’t been very strong and Lafferty would have helped there.
thought they moved Lafferty for Gregor?
Reaves replaces Simmonds

Keefe finally did what I’ve been calling for since game 5. Put Knies with Matthews. Sit Reaves cause he offers nothing. Play Robertson on the third line. Play Jarnkrok on the third line. Domi looked like an NHLer at centre.

But he’s still a slow learner. Samsonov should have been pulled at 2-1. He was swimming past his posts and not square to shooters. Woll needs a run of games to get into a groove.

Credit to Matthews for getting the game turned around. I like that Matthews tried to the crowd going. But Tavares and Nylander were no-shows tonight.

Glad we got two points but we can’t have a first period like that again. Start by not playing Samsonov till he gets his shit together.

Bertuzzi is useless. Upgrade over Bunting? Really? What did Bunting do? Anger the NHL officials? Show some passion? Take out one of Tampa's best defenders?

This Tampa team is mediocre, has a good chance of missing the playoffs, and its management doesn't have emotional attachment to the players. They could make for a crazy trade deadline with one or two big name players out there.

Actually thought he played his best 4:32 of hockey so far

Reaves 4 minutes, damn.

IMO anyone thinking Reaves is going to be waived any time soon is going to be disappointed.

The last shift I remember seeing of Reaves he was out for a leisure skate, swear to god he didn't hit anyone, didn't engage or pressure anyone, he was just out there floating.

He needs to sit a couple, hopefully it'll piss him off. I think the 3 year term got him too comfy for his own good

Not sure but he hasn’t been very good.

I imagine they will just limit his ice time like tonight. Doubt he sits.

What a game from line 1 and 3.
Domi looks great at Center(shocker, that's where he's used to playing)
Robertson great game, play the same way every game and no way Keefe will bench you.
Benoit and Lagesson were fantastic, nice to see a D pair that throws some hits too.
I don't know what to do about Bertuzzi... he looks lost out there, not good at all.
Has to find confidence. Robertson talked about it today, and it showed. Sammy is 100% going through some issues and it showed.

Seems so simplistic but it really is the key to success. Bertuzzi has been a very effective player up and including the playoffs last year.

I would like to think he was used to being a go to guy while in Detroit and he is struggling being the third wheel on a line, but he found success in Bos so I am not sure that is what it is.

I don't mind what Keefe has done for the first 10 games. The Leafs probability of making the playoffs is high and it was fine to experiment and hope something clicked early on.

Knies with Domi seemed more for Domi to see if he could gel and find his legs playing with a guy who plays full speed all the time.

They saw success once in the Tampa game prior, but could never sustain it.

Jarnkrok was fine on the top line for a stint because the Leafs would be a deeper more balanced team if Knies and Domi could figure it out.

After 4 pretty lousy performances he made the switch and saw pretty positive results in the first game.

They just need to figure it out and get it right for Game 1 of the playoffs

He's been very bad so far.
He's always behind the play and when he does have the puck he's been making some questionable decisions.
He needs to start playing better because right now he's essentially just 5M in wasted cap space.

I think he'll get it going sooner than later. I don't see how you just completely forget how to hockey in only a few months. Until then though, just so frustrating to watch and probably a chore to have on your line right now.

Nylander looks like Forsberg out there sometimes.
Obviously i really like Nylander and he's clearly close to marner as far as effectiveness, but he does go quiet for stretches that are slightly too long. It happens every year. The tavares contract really is a shame for this team because one of the top 4 will have to go and between the two i rate Marner just a bit higher than Nylander.

To be honest Treliving becoming GM was a mistake but at the very least we have enough top end scorers to outscore our problems and we should only build more chemistry as the season goes on. Plus make Woll the certified number one and once Liljegren and McCabe are back we should be roughly close enough to what we were last season anyway, except with an even better Nylander and especially Matthews. Hopefully Robertson sticks around as well
