Yup, I largely agree there.

I just disagree with anyone using that to conclude the division is now weak.

The Atlantic has pretty much inarguably been the best division in hockey for a while.
- 3 of the last 4 Presidents Trophies
- 3 of the last 5 cup winners
- an Atlantic division team has made the SCF 6 straight years

Our division appears to have taken a step back but that has made it more average than weak.
The flip side is that the 3 longest playoff droughts belong to Atlantic Division teams and if wasn't for the Covid seasons Montreal would hold the 4th longest.

Yeah, the strength of the division at the top plays a significant role in those droughts.

One is not like the other

The playoff drought is caused by the top teams being so good, which just gets reaffirmed by their playoff success against other divisions
