You're blaming goaltending for the Rielly-Holl pair being a disaster?

There are a couple of posters who seem to believe that a goalie deliberately plays better or worse depending on who is on the ice at the time. As though they thought "player X is on the ice now, so I'll let in a softie" or "player Z just made a terrible pass, but I like him, so I'll try extra hard to stop this breakaway".

Doubt it. Dubas doesn't trade for Schenn just to have Keefe then make the player a healthy scratch in the opening game of the playoffs.

Liljegren face looks like a 42 year old. He definitely doesnt look like a 23 year old kid. That dude a gangsta. For life sire. A true tank dawg. And by no means a "tank" meaning a loser, but a Tiger tank commander.

Should be the lines

We haven’t seen it yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Giordano - Schenn is a disaster. I think Gio needs someone that can skate better than Schenn paired with him.

If Schenn is out of the line-up, I think we see this:

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Liljegren
Giordano - Holl

If Schenn is in the line-up, I can see it being for Liljegren unfortunately even though Liljegren IMO should be in the line-up these playoffs:

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Schenn
Giordano - Holl

They are more puzzled by the 'who' than the 'why' and concerned that it'll be the 'who' again come playoff time.

It's more the sheer amount of outrage, both in numbers and level at the move. It seemed crystal clear to me. Get Schenn and Gus reps while leaving (after Sandin left) the guy who plays probably the softest QoC on the team to see who gels with who.

Completely agree. I just don’t see Keefe taking Holl out of the lineup unless he’s a complete dumpster fire out there.

Naws, I want him to crush that guy every time like he did and force a weak wrister towards the net. Almost always ends up a turnover.

There were 2 Leafs and 1 Devil out front so the support was there. Flukey one handed stab tip after Gio let his man get away from him and the forward missed the interception really.

The 2nd goal was the only one I thought he had some blame on as he switched to pressure while other two Leafs didn't pick up the loose man. Acciari was actually held on this olay and was livid at the refs after the goal went in.

The first one was on Marner (as he looked skyward after it goes in) but he made up for it.

Holl tried to clear and it hit a guy then took his man. Marner whiffed on the clear and knocked it right to the trailing forward and he put it in the net.

Bad bounces happen and Marner whiffed on the direct play that led to the goal. He does the correct play there and there is no goal. No need to defend an incredible defensive player in Marner and direct everything to Holl (as is the rage these days).

And Holl gives us what it needs to handle the top 9, which should be the greater worry. Schenn doesn't have what it takes for that... so he will be good for maybe 12 minutes a night.

At that point, if we are that worried, then use him as a 7th defenseman and don't use ZAR... Assuming Knies is also not more impactful.

Not sure. It's not unheard of to trade for depth at the deadline.

I’m not expecting Knies to step in and be a playoff hero, but I can certainly see him doing well.

Great that it's crystal clear to you but that doesn't make it correct.
Many see Lilli as more than you do and feel he should be left in so he can gel with whomever.

I wouldn't classify it as outrage but the 'sheer amounts' could also mean that the majority is correct in their thinking that Lilli shouldn't be the one on the outside looking in.

Solid win..I also liked that Jarkrok-Laff-Nylander line. I just think giving Willy fast players to play with works better. Then we can have a 2B line of JT-Oreily-Knies

It's funny because you never know what might work, and why that Keefe the horibblist, dumbest, most idiotic not good enough to coach JrA coach there ever was, is trying all the different combinations. He has to know who plays well against certain types of opponents.

Let's just say the scouts grade players 1 through 5(which they do), and so that makes the highest scoring, and effective lines 13-15

Whoever they played against last night might have been a 8-11 line, that means that they should be dependable against other 8-11 lines and so on, maybe that's the Bruins or Lightnings 3rd line so those guys will likely get some shifts against those lines.

He ain't so dumb.

Keefe has taken Holl out multiple times over the last few years when he has struggled.

Holl being an unsung hero during the D injury outbreak earlier in the year might give him some more rope with the coaches but his defensive numbers have been pretty good as of late too so it makes it even harder.

All of these players are different in their roles as well and it's not just as easy as pulling one player out and slotting them in (Holl and Liljegren for example would not fit in well with each others roles)

I don't know that he's entirely regarded as being a depth option. Not to necessarily say that he plays in every game (assuming the team goes on enough of a run), but he has played on a Cup winner (x2). I view Gustafsson as being the team's depth addition on the blueline.
