Man, the main boards like to complain about the Leafs defense, but that Winnipeg D is awful, even when healthy.

Too bad for Winnipeg, as they have the goaltending and forwards to be Cup contenders.

Leafs literally have the best defense corps man for man in the division.

Good win. Lots of work to do still and this Toronto team can still be a lot better.

Great game by the team except for that one shift (bad shifts happen in 60 minutes.) Very solid performance by Andersen.

Edmonton has the worst D in the NHL period. Nevemind the Canadian division. The Oilers are trash.

Jets only had 12 scoring chances, and 3 high danger at 5 on 5 in this game. You can't play much better defensively then that.
When this team puts their mind to it, they can be a very good defensive team.

Damn i thought the high danger might have been a little higher if I had to guess. But ur right thats really impressive.

The Leafs have really looked good to start the season in terms of possession and scoring chances, but then I start to wonder how much of it is weak competition and if they have the depth to keep it up with such a compact schedule.

Tavares is showing exactly why he was brought in. This is the best he's looked as a Leaf. Not just scoring, but just playing amazing all around. Being physical, commanding the puck, solid defensively, and sticking up for teammates. Love seeing this Johnny leading this team.

If he keeps this up I think you see us go 4+4 in expansion, wait to re-sign Hyman until after the draft, and let them choose between Kerfoot and Dermott
Dermott will not be under contract by the time the expansion draft comes around. Not sure what that means for his eligibility.

Man a lot of time is spent talking about what the Habs would be without Price...but the Habs are atleast an average team that lacks fire power without him. Take Helle from the Jets and they might be the worst team in the division.

It's too bad for the Jets that they lost Byfuglien, Trouba and Tyler Myers in little over one year's time. The character of their blueline basically transformed overnight from their corps of big, tall rangy RHD's to a small group led by Josh Morrissey from the left. Ah well, too bad, so sad.

Who exactly is really good in this division?

Leafs win a solid game, meanwhile two butt-hurt Habs fans are still beating their chests in a thread on the main boards abut Dell (our former 3rd string goalie) and Spezza (our 12th-15th forward). Imagine living that life.

Well, tonight is not Winnipeg at full power. Patrik Laine has been excellent for them this year (week).

Well, Myers is terrible. But yes to the other two.

I still dont get the issue with Thornton. Hyman on the 3rd line looks great, and Keefe puts him with Mitch/Auston once every three or four shifts.

Their underlying stats are ridiculous, and he isnt a blackhole. His skating really just doesnt pass the eye test.
I'm one of those on the people. Well not exactly more on the fence about it.

Me personally. Feels like they get more out of hyman then Joe but Joe has looked good for the most part. Still feel like Joe could contribute more on the 3rd line adding his high iq and mikh and kerfoots great hockey ability.

Basically just swap there usage. Hyman plays on the top line and Joe on the 3rd and every few shifts Joe plays on the top. But it's early im not THAT against or for for either really.
