If the Leafs can figure out how to diversify their fanbase, expand their marketing, and especially win a Cup, then that would be huge for hockey in general. Look at what Drake and winning has done to the Raptors... Or the NBA in general. Not that the Raptors were the only drivers, but the NBA have doubled their revenue since 2013 which was the beginning of when they started to win things, and the Raptors have increased their value 300+%.

Some of the older fans may not like what the Leafs will have to do to appeal to a younger generation, but the Leafs have so much growth potential... And they are not even leveraging superstar celebrities like the Raptors are doing with Drake yet.

We got Biebs.

hahaha, watched the first period, we went up 3 to zip, went to be dreading the morning headline, we win 3 to zip.
Plan the Parade!!!!

Went to bed after the first period .. Looks like I didn't miss anything important ;)

Impressed to see back to back shutouts .. Can't remember the last time that happened. And shutting out McDavid/Drai two games in a rows is damn good.

Was concerned early on, Edmonton came out flying and pushed the Leafs on their heels a bit but Hutch came through with some good saves to calm down the game.

And then the offense came through with some opportunistic goals to turn the tide and kill Edmonton's momentum.

How were the second and third?

whoa edmonton fans need to come off the ledge.

there's a fire tippett thread there now blaming him for the oilers' loss to TOR.

the comments are so funny. reminds me of leaf fans vs babs.

"he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room"

The biggest pop star un the world loves the leafs and is besties with Austin.

They don't use him.

Oilers media ask the best most embarrassing questions.

Worst part of the Tippett interview is he gives zero credit to the TML. I am not saying he should be fawning all over them but come on seriously. Express that the other team played better than us and that’s unacceptable, especially after the first game. They are minus their top C and playing back ups against us. If we can’t count on our Goalies to make a few saves and have more jump to our game we will not be able to make much noise in the playoffs.

lol that thread has been around since early in the season when we weren't doing so hot, it just got bumped.
I'm back on board for firing him as well, but not really, just joking around.

Geez it's like Oprah showed up and targetted the Leaf goalies:

"YOU get a shutout!!!! YOU get a shutout!!! Everyone gets a shutout!!!"

McDavid and Drai are just not 200 foot players. You can't win a game if you only come ready to play for 40 minutes, and you can't win if your star players are only willing to be 125 foot players. That and the Oilers goaltending is absolutely brutal, Smith and Koskinen are both 1B goalies at best, and are really both backup goaltender level.

Now let's sign Ayers for one game and stick him in net so we can exorcise those demons after he shuts out Edmonton.

Their biggest need is goaltending. If they had a good starter they would be a hell of alot better.

Their D is still missing a #1, and a #3 or 4.

Their bottom 6 are not very good.

They're carried by 2 unreal players who need a lot more help.

No Matthews
No Goalies
NO PROBLEM

Another great game. Shut down the leagues best 2 straight with ease

Hyman barely makes any contact and the Oilers get pissy at Mikheyev, lmao

Then Nurse acts tough by uh..... stopping near Hutchinson?

and then Oilers players go after Dermott and Vesey? Really?

Oilers are lame man
Hey man, it was a power stop.

John Tavares did his best but damn do I miss Matty coming over the boards every few minutes. The whole energy of the PP is different, and his 5v5 impact is huge.

Rest well baby.
