Very strong team effort and Hutch was solid.

The Mikheyev - Engvall - Hyman line was again a force.

Mikheyev has been very good all season and could easily have like 10 goals with more finish.

Rielly had a great game and was all over the ice.

Getting rid of the stretch pass was the best thing we've done. Our puck support was brutal before and we didnt manage the puck that well. The improved spacing and support has allowed us to move the puck up the ice more efficiently and move it out of dangerous areas in our own end.
Excellent observation on the stretch pass. Many of us here were questioning the effect that had on our defence when a forward was always blowing the zone. Another indication that Babcock hurt this team more than helped it.

That third line has been incredible. I envisioned this role for Hyman years ago, his motor combined with the speed of his linemates has been enjoyable to watch.

Great game by Hutchinson, very still in the net, letting the puck come to him. Best game I’ve seen him play as a Leaf. I wonder who’s in net next game Doesn’t seem to matter.

First B2B shutouts since 1954. All it took was missing your top player and missing your #1 and #2 goalies.

Shutting out the #2 team in the division B2B, with what was your #4 goalie while missing your #1C does not say much for the division or this Leaf team is really, really good when they are determined.

Time to trade Andersen and get something instead of letting him walk for nothing at the end of the year.

Check out Nostradamus here after game 1 lol

"There's nothing scary about a team that beat us with their 2nd and former 4th string goalies, and their best player/franchise C injured. Nothing frightening at all about a team that is both top 5 in goals for/gp and goals against/gp."

Only HFboards would make Leafs fans feel bad about being 1st in the league.

Wah wah, weak division.
Wah, wah, crap Canadian teams.
Wah, wah, injuries.

Main boards have the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
It's always been like this. I try to avoid any Leafs related threads because it's always the same shit.

Yes I'm aware. But you'd think people have been watching games. The Leafs are playing a completely different game. We don't need to be celebrated for 20ish games in season for sure, but atleast give some credit for how they have played so far.

Nothing counts because it's in the North. I mean, even some of the most homerish Habs and Oil fans have said great things about this Leafs team.

Everytime someone is within 6 points of us in the Standings and we have head to head coming up all we hear is oh X team is the best in the division and if they sweep Toronto they'll pass them. Didn't work out so well with the Habs.

I just have 2 questions. When is Edmonton going to fire their coach and how long until we play Winnipeg so we go through it all for a 3rd time?

I was thinking exactly the same. Peg beat the Habs twice and are playing the Canucks now and will play the Habs a couple more times before they meet us next week.
I thought they will go on a 8 game win streak and expected to hear that "Winnipeg is the best in the north, undebatable." by the time we play them.

Sort of like The Walking Dead villains they come one after the other: Habs (Governer), Oils (Negan), and then Jets (Alpha).

But Winnipeg just got embarrassed 4-0 by the Canucks. yikes. They ruined the story line.

Man you really gotta wonder if both McDavid and Eichel regret signing 8 years with their respective teams...

Pretty sure both had the best of intentions. Unfortunately they just haven’t had the support around them. While I don’t know about the rest of their farm system both Bouchard and Broberg have high pedigree. It’s likely they lose RNH in the offseason and I just wonder what this means for a team already starved for wingers.

So the question is does his agent request a move in a few years if they continue to flounder? Got think the only place he will want to play is Toronto much like a JT homecoming. The question is how many picks it will take and will we have enough cap space to bring him on board.

Imagine 4 forwards making 10 million plus. Hey if the cap is 100 million plus then it shouldn’t be an issue.

I too predicted we would win this game after most were doom and gloom about Matthews, Andersen and Campbell being out last night coming off the 4-0 shutout on Saturday. Everyone thought that McDavid would torch us in a rebound game.

My question is how pissed is McDavid today that he and his team have been shutout back to back from his hometown team?

Would a 3rd shutout cause issues in the Edmonton organization?

I personally do not see McDavid lasting in Edmonton, he is too good to be a part of that organization.

He will be in Toronto before long with Marner going the other way. I have been calling this for the past 2 years and it will happen.

McDavid hasn't done much really, he takes a couple of rushes a game and that's about it.
I was telling my father too bc he loves McDavid. He's a great talent. But even my father (huge Oilers fan hates the Leafs bc of media), was saying McDavid is great at that one thing but he's become too predictable. Teams are adjusting. He has to adapt. He cant just skate fast anymore and cut in, because teams are surrounding him with few players and active sticks.

He was invisible except for one or two speedy rush.

Never thought it would be possible, but maybe McDavid has regressed.

Dont need any picks or to RIP team.

If he wants to come, like JT, he'll come for free in FA.
