I too predicted we would win this game after most were doom and gloom about Matthews, Andersen and Campbell being out last night coming off the 4-0 shutout on Saturday. Everyone thought that McDavid would torch us in a rebound game.

My question is how pissed is McDavid today that he and his team have been shutout back to back from his hometown team?

Would a 3rd shutout cause issues in the Edmonton organization?

I personally do not see McDavid lasting in Edmonton, he is too good to be a part of that organization.

He will be in Toronto before long with Marner going the other way. I have been calling this for the past 2 years and it will happen.
Um...no thanks.

I'll keep Mitch. If McDavid wants to come we would love to have him but Leafs are not trading anyone away. If he wants to come it'll be when JT is up.

We’ll have you soon enough Connor and leafs will turn that frown upside down

absolute clinic last night. McDavid will always get chances, which he did last night. But we limited him as best as you possibly can. Hutch came up big when he needed to. Really pleased with the 3rd period. Looked like the oilers were pissed heading into the 2nd intermission, thought they would come out hungry in the 3rd. The boys weathered the storm, and were excellent on the PK. Great game all around. Fun time to be a leaf fan

Man you really gotta wonder if both McDavid and Eichel regret signing 8 years with their respective teams...

I think about this often, McDavid should've signed the Matthews deal. McDavid jumped the gun big time, I don't think anyone would blame him if he asked for a trade sooner than later.

Dont need any picks or to RIP team.

If he wants to come, like JT, he'll come for free in FA.

If it means we get him two years earlier I am okay with giving up picks. Obviously we can’t mortgage our teams success just to trade for him. I have high hope for both Robertson and Amirov. If they become top 6 wingers we will be in great shape. Mikheyev is perfectly situated as a 3rd line winger which can PK. I think Hyman has to be signed long term

Our D needs to have both Sandin and Liljegren pan out. Not just pan out but be pushing top 4.

The biggest question will be our goalie situation moving forward. Campbell looks like he may be moving towards taking that next step but he has been often injured so we haven’t had the opportunity to really take a strong look.

Our farm system looks great and I will say that Dubas is an excellent evaluator of talent. With a few more firsts our system could be ripe with the next wave.

Dont get me wrong McDavid is the best in the NHL today bar none. But what he has around him is garbage and that ruins a player. There is no one in the NHL that can skate like he does at high speeds and handle the puck like he does. I dont think there has been ever.

This is kid is the real deal and two levels above everyone on the ice when he plays. But for some reason the Leafs have his number. I dont know if it is because of the added pressure for him to do well against them or what. But he has looked average at best when he plays against the Leafs other then a couple of McDavid like plays that hes made.

This is the first time that we have looked like a playoff team.
Everyone is buying in.

Mik go get yourself a goal

  • What was up with that dude trying to argue the Human doesn't have stone hands in the last thread? He absolutely does. He doesn't skill his way into many goals they almost all come from hard work. He's added a couple moves to his repertoire this season, but yeah not exactly silky. He's so hard on his stick ALL the time, even when he has the puck it makes it hard to have soft touches on the puck.

This is the first time in my life I feel we have a shot at the cup.

We are definitely the team to beat this year

was saying McDavid is great at that one thing but he's become too predictable. Teams are adjusting. He has to adapt. He cant just skate fast anymore and cut in, because teams are surrounding him with few players and active sticks.

He was invisible except for one or two speedy rush.

Never thought it would be possible, but maybe McDavid has regressed.

It's odd that the best player in the world can be so one dimensional. When teams buckle down they've had success at pushing McDavid out of games.

I've posed this question before: what does McDavid become once he loses a step? You can't just skate full throttle game in and out your whole career. He's a smart enough player to adapt I would think, as he still sees the ice as good as any.

I'd say he's in his true prime right now, people want him here at 28 (myself included) but who knows what type of player he'll be by then.

Wow Hutch was a star ... can't believe it but it's true ... big credits to Hutch, Rielly and Zach who played their best games last night ... and honourable mentions to Mik and Willy ... great coaching tactics too rewarding players who came to play harder than others last night ... it goes a long way when a coach when winning a game still rewards game performance ... props to Vesey who played his best game all year too and Bogo and Dermy for stepping up when it counts ... so many positives ... this team is really coming together nicely and playing for each other
