How did Gustafsson look? I missed the first 2 periods and didn’t seem like he played much in the 3rd.

Schenn and McCabe both looked great

I think you can see Gustafsson's offensive instinct pretty easily, he jumps into the play well and has some talent, I just wonder if he is the type of D we need. I think Schenn or Holl is better suited for our team.

*General observation: we have players willing to take a hit to make a play, and throw a hit when the chance is there. I like this aspect of the team's progression as we take shape.
Bunch of my group chats have been saying this the last 2 games. Fully agree. Sometimes "physicality" doesn't always mean smashing guys into row 8. Just being big bodies and using them to create space with and without the puck, really matters.

Definitely worth paying attention to down the stretch here.

1st half of the game was so so but that 2nd half was some of the best commitment to team defense I've seen for a long time

I'm really liking Woll, the kid just looks cool calm and collected
He's taken some time to develop but he's starting to show some real ability

Good professional road win on a b2b after a very poor performance

*Woll, after the early goal against, played solidly and is showing a good glove.
*Best game of the year for Kerfoot.
*Morgan Rielly as well, his skating is back and he was more physical.
*Jarnkrok too, skating hard and effectively.
*General observation: we have players willing to take a hit to make a play, and throw a hit when the chance is there. I like this aspect of the team's progression as we take shape.
*The 4th line is disruptive, skates well and was a little unlucky in not being rewarded for their efforts.
*Schenn impressed me, he doesn't take shit. And I think played well when on the ice with Rielly.
*McCabe has a nasty streak, he hits hard.
*O'Rielly is a smart, defensively aware player, if you can get another winger, I think him and Jarnkrok + could make a deceptively effective line.

Auston Matthews was my only concern from tonight's game. I thought he skated a lot of empty calories away, had a couple of spurts of energy, but as others have observed, something is off.

Acciari and O'Reilly are both more than willing to take hits to make plays. That will hopefully run throughout the lineup.

For all the ups and downs of a season it is impressive the Leafs have only lost 2 games in a row twice this season.

Every ex player and coach will tell you games like last night happen to everyone.

The one thing I wish they would be better at is playing the bottom 10 teams of the league.

Bit of a rocky start, but great 3rd to finish.
Woll still looks a little shaky, but ended up having an excellent game.
Schenn was better than I expected. Cool seeing him in a Leaf jersey again.
Marner still magic.

McCabe-Brodie seems like an obvious succession of the Muzzin-Brodie shutdown pair from last playoffs. Really liking what I've seen from McCabe these two games.

I wasn't that familiar with McCabe's game but he's more fluid and reliable with the puck than I had anticipated.

Can skate, moves the puck well, takes the body when needed and seems very intense.

Did Jarnkrok score on his first shift with Tavares and Nylander?
Wouldn't mind running with Kerfoot and RoR next game and seeing Jarnkrok in the top-6 again.
