I don't know what to think. Possibly Matthews and Marner's worst stretch as Leafs but they are 5-3 over those 8 games.

Matthews started to look better after the first. Nylander snake bit in this game. To call their effort pathetic outside of the first period is a huge stretch.

Hard to imagine M+M's cold streak extends much further. If they had just produced at their normal pace the Leafs might be riding an 8 game win streak even while not playing their best

I don’t even have to pick on Marner tonight. He showed us his season in a nut shell with his shoot out performance.
I’m literally lmao

Picking on Marner tonight is pretty gutless imo. He took a f***ing slap shot to the face and came back out. Was more physically engaged than Matthews and Nylander too.

He’s having a shit season and we all know his flaws but taking a slap shot to the face and playing through that level of pain is crazy. Far from the narrative of him being a puss.

I liked a lot of what I saw, regardless of that roadkill first.

But wait a f***ing minute - they won? I turned it off after Rod’s SO - yay, groovy Leafs hockey...

Mitch plays better in a cage - that's not unexpected, that's just Leafy.

Willy had a few moments but isn't dangerous every time he has the puck like he was.

Woll was outstanding, enough of this yoyo shit, make a tough decision for once, Keefe, because your seat stays hot even with a win. Woll has had a few bad games but hasn't been bad more than every other game like Sammy.

Even Reavo wasn't horrible, or at least he wasn't a detriment. Gregor and Kampf played great games.

I also saw some stuff I didn't like. Bench minor going into overtime, Timmins is scary in our zone and Brodie keeps making bad decisions with the puck at bad times.

And Matthews - his timing is way off, it's something mental. He did manage to show up for a mittensy OT goal, but he's making passes to no one and getting his shot blocked by shinpads left and right.

And why is the ice at the SBC, home area of the team that prints money, so shit? Mitch had that goal but hits a crack, puck is bouncing and moving fast then suddenly slowing, it's f***ed.

Refs can review penalties now? This league - why is some shit up for debate and some isn't?

I've had it about up to here with these continual icings. Make a rule where if the puck passes within three feet of the net its no ice, or if a guy is in forward motion but has to dump it 4 feet from center it's no ice, or if a guy is dogging it back its no ice, or if the goalie goes beyond eight feet from his net it’s no ice. It's ridiculous and I’ve been bitching about it since 2017.

Maurice will bitch about something, even without the questionable shootout goal.

I hate to give them praise, but it's not hard to see why Florida got far last year and will probably go far again.

Proven #1 Goalie - inconsistent yeah sometimes but he single-handedly ended us and Carolina's seasons last year.

Decent amount of firepower up top with Tkachuk, Barkov, Verhaeghe and Reinhart and good fundamental secondary guys like Lundell, Bennett, Luostarinen and Lomberg.

Ekblad, Montour and Forsling are all top pairing defensemen and all of them can shoot the puck, where do you get those?

All lines are fast.

They're heavy on the boards and more than a little dirty but they have an identity and everyone has bought in.

Losing two to Chi and Pit will have implications later.
Really enjoy your post game thoughts. Thanks and keep them coming.

Matthews is the most overpaid star in the league and Marner should be traded. But only until they have 4 points game each. Then I like them again. Am I doing this right?

Admirable effort by the defence playing a man short most of the game against a heavy team. Timmins is our 8th D and he was bad.

The forwards other than Gregor were absolute trash. Outmuscled, jittery with puck, falling down, our top players mailing it in. If it wasn’t for Woll we lose this in the first period.

Keefe is done. What a pathetic show reaming out Bertuzzi in public. Why doesnt he do it to Marner or Nylander after their gaffes? And, another too many men penalty, can we have some accountability for that?

Todays too many men was a despicable call by the refs. That’s a normal line change. Agreed with one of the stars should have got the ear full. Bertuzzi is his new Jimmy Vesey lol. He hated Vesey with a passion

He has gone after Nylander more than once over the years.

As for Marner, just the one time benching is all I can remember. Who knows what he has said in the room?
