Matty and Willy didn't gel all that well, but they did manage 10 of the 32 shots.

Willy's got to stop hitting posts.

Gregor the Great! Woll the Wall!

If JT could kill the other team's PP as well as he kills ours, he be a shoe-in for the Selke.

Who was wearing 88 tonight? Three hits and two penalties drawn?

20 giveaways?
Nylander has 13 hits on the year at the quarter pole. He had 18 all last year. Baby steps

Simple right?

I mean there is two ways to look at it. On one hand, have not been playing great for all except like maybe 3-4 games this season. 'Tending hasn't been as good as expected, D isn't great, core four aside from Willy has been hit and miss.

Other hand, they are hanging around, collecting points, I mean if they can win the two in hand they are ahead of Florida in 2nd in the Atlantic and 2-4 back of Boston who has been ridiculous again but you'd think comes back to earth.

Beats me. I am perennially optimistic, I think we're better then we've played so far and yet we are right there anyways. Enjoy the ride I guess. Wild one tonight, kinda fun.

Here is my positive outlook for the day.

I don't care if the Leafs have to win 11 out of 16 games in OT on the way to winning the Cup. Just find a way to win!

Leafs are getting reputation too many men penalties now too. It's so weird how the refs just give them one when it's not even close.
It’s actually another issue I have with our team. Every other team hollers whenever an infraction (or not even one) occurs and when we get punked everyone just sits on the bench like they’re in church.

What do you expect from a team with no leadership group? You have a core of soft, lazy millionaires who can't command their teammates' respect. I wouldn't bother, either. When I played, we had a team like this. My buddy and I were the only ones ready to rough people up. But we didn't care about our 'leaders'. It was our personal war.

The team didn't start on time again.

Why not? If I know what time the game starts these overpaid millionaire hockey players should. Last I checked the start time was public knowledge.

These guys were lucky to squeak out a win.

If it wasn't for Woll this game would've been a blowout. I really hope the mega-rich mega-millionaires that couldn't be bothered to show up bought Woll dinner after. I mean, let's face it, they f***ed him pretty hard last night.

That's what happens when you can't be bothered to play a full 60 minutes.

That first period against Florida was just the latest one recently the Leafs failed to come out strong. Not surprisingly the team has struggled during this same time frame. It's very difficult to win every game when you're constantly chasing the lead.

Even the rabbit failed to catch the tortoise.

Considering Florida was on the second of a back-to-back and the night before in Ottawa was about as brutal and physical as an NHL game can be these days, let's keep things in check.

Toronto was pretty awful for much of the game - At least until fatigue likely set in for the Panthers. Looking at these two teams today if they met in the playoffs I don't see any reason to be optimistic about the Leafs doing better than last time.

On the positive side, Woll was incredible and it was entertaining. Also nice to see Keefe go off on the bench for once. If he ever lays into one of the stars like that I'll really be impressed.

Picking on Marner tonight is pretty gutless imo. He took a f***ing slap shot to the face and came back out. Was more physically engaged than Matthews and Nylander too.

He’s having a shit season and we all know his flaws but taking a slap shot to the face and playing through that level of pain is crazy. Far from the narrative of him being a puss.
Exactly. That’s why I didn’t pick on him

Agreed 100%. For guys who seem to be coasting right now and wouldn’t give their team any cap relief, they’re not earning their salaries. Does Matthews look like he should be the highest paid player in the league?
Nope .but I bet he shoes up on time for his 5 million dollar RBC commercials

I don't mind if Marner switches regular season with playoffs for the periods of season people like him

We don't show up against a team that manhandled us last yr .
It is all I need to know about this team
I would not spend assets on this team .

Unless our goaltender stands on his head like he did tonight we won't win.

So we know the Cats have a very aggressive forecheck, we know they close off primary outlets very quickly. So what do we do? We take our sweet time retrieving lose pucks and the forwards cheat down ice leaving their d-man one outlet, like how many times did we lose easy pucks because we were too slow moving the puck. Like you SEE what they are doing and WE dont do jack to counter act their game plan, we continue to do the same thing over and over and over again expecting better results... I really dont wish ill on Keefe but damn, it's time for a new voice. Keefe's deer in headlights "What do I do?" act is old and tired and needs to be retired. This team is wasting the prime years of our best core in the last 50 years.

For a team that was lucky to win and that everyone seems to hate, they are tied for 8th overall in the entire league (tied for second in the Eastern conference) for fewest number of regulation losses. But I guess that doesn't count because a guy on the radio doesn't think they look "serious" enough.

What in the **** was that?

I'm not proud so I'll take it but that's going to take some processing

Woll was great, the defense looked committed and our depth forwards came through again

Our big boys have cooled off though, it would be nice if they would kick it into gear again
There more than capable of it
Yet another game where 34, 16, and 88 did little to nothing, Nylander looked like he was scared of his own shadow on that first Florida goal, not what I want from a 10mil plus player……..

The extreme majority of people agreed with that radio guy though.

Everyone? Seems like a bit of an over exaggeration no? Tied for 8th? Maybe take a look again, they are tied for 13th ... 2 points out of 15th OA and 4 points out of 24th OA, a bad week and we are in the bottom quartile of the league. What you think to be true and what is actually true are two universe's apart.

Toronto has less regulation wins than EDMONTON... you know that team that fired its coach and sent its starter to the minors.
