You're being facetious but Florida getting goalied doesn't really look like Toronto getting goalied. They break it down just fine, drive to the net just fine, Woll was great but they were just chopping it up around the crease.

It’s a grass is greener situation, we had 2 or 3 guys sitting on Bob all playoffs and couldn’t shove a scramble play through. No one on the Leaf’s outside of Nylander and apparently Gregor is dangerous from beyond the near slot and I’m getting bored of them trying to stuff shots through from close enough that the goalie can tell what kind of caviar they had for lunch.

Main difference is Florida goes back to the point and gets to the net north south and we go to the net from east west from the corner or a behind the net set up.

I thought some of Floridas passes were sloppy, in general their execution was poor

They got to the areas they wanted, high slot, hashmark area but just poorly aimed shots. Also a lot of their cross seam or even passes into the slot were off, bounced over sticks or into awkward spots

One thing I’ll give credit is that we blocked a decent amount of shots, it felt like we got in the way a couple of times of dangerous opportunities

Yeah I like the way you break it down. Florida is a very slopping team. Full stop. What made them really interesting last year is every time they messed up last year they'd just go double speed to put out fires, get back on pucks, backcheck like demons.

The other aspect is going back a few years back to the pandemic, they had a real torpedo mentality, just come through the neutral zone in a hurry. They had that when Weegar was part of the program and looks like they didn't skip a beat with Montour. Not crediting those guys specifically but just some aspect of their game that's emerged over the past few years.

So kind of comparing against the Leafs getting goalied, they don't have the same problem breaking into the slot but seem to chop it around and didn't show any good finish. Their big guns were useless.

I think the back to back stuff is overblown.
Never seems to be any advantage for the Leafs

The common denominator is our overpaid and overrated core 4.

And Rielly is NOT a true #1 D. He has NO shot from the point AT ALL.

Of all the nights to rag on Rielly, I don't think tonight makes sense. He was just playing at a high rate and made some crucial stops. Think he tracked Cousins breaking away and poked the puck out calm as can be. No penalty.

My theory is that the Panthers are not serious enough. Hear me out. I think I'm on to something.

Also keep in mind Florida is on the second of a back to back, and were pretty even with Toronto, which isn't great... But on the other hand we were on a back to back vs Pittsburgh and faded a bit and we're not letting them off the hook for that...

So I guess you just take the 2 points but in the back of your mind accept that this may or may not be a year to invest draft capital, emotional investment, etc.
Im less concerned with Florida and more about our overall play

Rielly has basically been playoff Rielly all season so far. Any slander against him is honestly ridiculous. There is a long list of players not pulling their weight....he sure as hell is not on that list.

Mo was fine, however, with the Klingberg experiment now over they need some offensive support back there and some PP cover.

He’s been a standard bearer. Just solid and at a high rate. Never complains when they tinker with his spot on the PP. I’ve had concerns with his game over the years but this years been top notch and definitely nothing to complain about tonight.

Yep, considering it's him and 5 other guys essentially.

I mean you can make the case that Lagesson has been the 2nd best d-man.
