Reimer is the man. What a performance by him tonight.

Also, Rielly >>>>>>>>>> Ranger. Keep Ranger off this team! Trade him to Edmonton

I just don't like it that all he gets is praise, when in fact, there are mistakes that he makes that others get crucified for.

I like his potential immensely, however, he's not perfect.

Nobody is.

19 year old defenseman who has already impressed, playing on the right side instead of his natural position and having his best game is very very impressive.

I don't know how Carlyle can justify scratching him after this.

I'd say he had about as many as Phaneuf.

Seriously when you expect perfection from your defensemen, you're only ever going to come out disappointed.

Shea Weber makes mistakes on a nightly basis
Zdeno Chara makes mistakes on a nightly basis
Morgan Rielly makes mistakes on a nightly basis

The kid had an unreal game, anyone saying otherwise is biased in my opinion.

Well then, Carlyle should be fired if he scratches MR ever again!

Ok, so nobody, other than me, saw any of Rielly's blunders?

He had a couple bad ones in OT, rushing up and then lost the puck. But other than that he didn't look to be making many bad plays. As many as the rest of our D does. His good plays far outweighed the bad.

Rielly - Fraser

should be a pairing for a while.

i completely forgot that ranger wasn't in the lineup tonight.

D seemed very good and tight without him.

I am now ultimately convinced Rielly will be a star. If his performance tonight can be duplicated on a regular basis against goaltenders not performing like Holtby did, we have ourselves an elite offensive catalyst from the back end.

Some parts of our game were good tonight, and then some weren't. I'm glad we salvaged two points out of this.

How is it that we are so brutal at clearing the puck out of our zone? I mean some of the plays just look sloppy and lazy... get the damned puck out already. Posession of course is equally terrible. But, most of Washington's shots were easy for Riemer to see.

Some nice play from our youngsters, on the offensive side.

I don't know if this is an attempt to play dumb, or you just really missed the point of that post. I'll put it succinctly:

"No defenseman is perfect, to expect perfection is unreasonable."

Defenders TOI:

M. Fraser 19:15
M. Rielly 19:25
C. Franson 22:18
C. Gunnarsson 22:39
J. Gardiner 23:02
D. Phaneuf 23:31

This is actually a vast improvement over Phaneuf playing 28 minutes. Means Phaneuf isn't as tired end of game.

Don't forget this was an overtime game.

Gunnarsson played the most PK time by far, almost 4 minutes(3:56), Fraser 2:45 was next.

We should be able to go at least 2-2.... 2-1-1 would be awesome

Rielly has always had elite potential, but tonight you really saw glimpses of what he's going to be able to do in the future. Hopefully will be a Leaf for many many years to come.

The hate Ranger gets is ridiculous. I'd far rather him out there on a regular basis than Fraser. Ranger actually has hockey skills.

Phaneuf Gunnarson
Franson Gardiner
Ranger Rielly
Fraser.

Part of the reason for that is probably because Phaneuf got that one penalty. The other regulars on the PK getting more to make up for Phaneuf being in the box not being able to log his regular minutes.

One name - Paul Ranger. He's not perfect, but, he's not as bad as a lot of posters on here keep harping! That's the point I'm trying to make.
