Best win% in leafs coaching history…

But if he never wins a playoff round here, there will be a graphic on HNIC one Saturday 10, 20 years from now about Leafs coaching wins/percentages and fans will say "Oh yeah, that guy, Dubas' buddy that wasted prime Matthews & Marner. Almost forgot about him."

He bet his job on this core. Does that mean anything to you ?? He should never have said that IMO.
Oh wow gosh he said something to the media. Do you really think that’s the case? What else is he supposed to say in that situation?

It's his playoff win percentage that counts in the end. Personally he is starting to grow on me but he still has to prove he can win in the playoffs.
Jury is still out IMO. Not sure he’s really done anything all that great since he took over.
It’s not like he took over a dog team. He and Dubas both walked into really desirable situations.

They were well under .500, it was around us thanksgiving and they were well outside of a playoff spot. They were not a good team in 19-20 to begin the year.
 Of course they were. They were a playoff team that quit on the coach.

Does anyone care about a house league with 6 teams?

That "house league" that you refer to featured the best 150 hockey players on the planet for over 30 years. Can you imagine the talent on a given team right now if the league was only made up of 6 teams ?

If your point was that with only 6 teams it was statistically easier to win the Stanley Cup in a given year as compared to today ?

Well of course then I agree with you.

If by 'house league' you mean that the players of today are better trained, better coached, fitter and benefit from science, statistics and technology that wasn't used decades ago ?

Certainly.

But don't discount any house league that featured Richard, Harvey, Plante, Kennedy, Apps, Broda, Bower, Keon, Howe, Lindsay, Sawchuk, Makita, Hull, Bathgate, Shore, Orr and scores of others.

Does any one care ?

Yes. I do.

Have a look at this video and perhaps you might agree ?

we literally have not played florida or washington in two years yet apparently we struggle against them lol
If you wish to try and defend annual failures and weakening performances going on now at least do it as an adult.
You know they would kick our butt and have in the past. They both have team toughness and we shy from that. Winning is the game. Always remember 1967.

His comment spoke volumes so I bit my tongue. I was hoping others would pipe in and viola. By his logic in 50+ years nobody will give a rats ass about hockey being played today.
Pretty much, why should they? The game evolves and changes.
Middle 6/bottom pairing players would be stars in that era. Goaltending was a joke bsck then as well.

You are boring. The Stanley Cup is the goal not making playoffs. 1967.
Boudreau gave us a better chance in 2022.
Have you ever watched a Leaf Cup win? Win win win. Raptors, Jay's, TFC,
enough is enough...no more excuses.
This is now, not when JT is 2 yrs, not when AM gets a major knee injury when he is hit because we are not tough enough
One thing we know for certain is they aren’t winning a cup tonight on the Island.

I could really use a hello game from Spezza and Tavares

Spezza has been all but useless with 1 point in his last 8

Tavares on EV has blown a majority of chances in the last few games

both could use a big game, but most important of all

MRAZEK HAVE A .900+ GAME plz
Since Spezza was suspended he has been a mere shadow of himself

So do the Leafs come out strong and show the coach that they are not as soft as he said they were or do they mail it in because he hurt their feelings ??

I feel a solid team effort and 2 points coming tonight. Admittedly i'm a little surprised by that positive outlook but i like it.

Wow, you're obviously not old enough to remember the greats in that 6 team league. Because it was a small league and only a limited amount of players could make the teams made it a very good, elite league, not watered down like it is now.
No I’m in my late thirties and been following the sport since I can remember. My boomer dad would never stfu about the “good old days” and we would watch old leafs games on leaf tv. Talk about boring hockey.

How dare you, hockey was at its peak when half the defensemen couldn't skate backwards and unscreened wristshots from beyond the circles regularly beat 5'6 stand-up goalies.

Winning hockey....Keon was not boring, Masoli iChat was not boring, Bower was not boring, Horton was not boring, etc etc

I'm predicting a dominant first period where everyone on here starts gloating and telling people critical of the team to shut up.

Followed by a typical collapse and loss.
or they totally flip the script, come out flat, but turn it on later in the game showing dominance:sarcasm:

I think we see a great effort tonight.
Agreed

team usually is good after being called out or embarrassed

I think we see an effort similar to the Arizona game. Whether the puck goes in or not, I haven’t the slightest clue
