Series Talk: Leafs vs Lightning Pre-Playoff Thread

It was interesting listening to Wendel Clark being interviewed today.

I was surprised he said his favorite Leaf to watch is Willy, and equally surprised he believes Willy will be the difference maker this playoffs.

He also thought Brodie would be the guy making a difference on the backend.

He seemed pretty optimistic. I am jumping on board with him

What's wrong with the lineup ? I think it's great TBH. I like Knies a lot, but he hasn't demonstrated that he deserves a lineup spot over anyone else at this point. Lily has been brutal since the TDL, while Holl has been quite good. I'm pretty happy with the lineup.

It probably has more to do with Schenn not being able to play more than 12 minutes a night than anything to do with Rielly...

Rielly is probably playing 24 minutes a night in this series again considering he has consistently been a high performing defenseman in the playoffs.

I hope he has the playoffs of his career. We will need a few guys to really dial in and drag us through a few games. Hoping he is one of them.

Liljegren not playing makes sense to start imo

While he was finding his game in the last couple of games, he’s played himself out of a spot the last few weeks. He should be on standby for either of Schenn or holl if they can’t provide stabalizing defence and physicality or if we need more offence from the backend

Maroon deliberately turtled so that Keefe would be dumb enough to play Schenn, so Tampa could take full advantage of his lack of speed and mobility.

(Nah, I don't believe it either.)

I'm not surprised by either - Wendel is a pretty smart guy.

BTW, for those of you upset last year about Fred Andersen's performance, he isn't even the starting goaltender for the Canes tonight lol

TBH he played himself out of the lineup. He's been pretty f***ing bad the last 15 ish games and Holl has been pretty good. Until Holl does something very stupid to play himself out, I keep running the same D pairs.
