Am I wrong for saying there is some glaring holes in this lineup?

Tampa right now sits at 96 points and I honestly think that's reflective of what's seen here. To me this looks like a very top-heavy team that really lacks pop on lines 2-4, and with a very spotty defense.

So I never heard of this Eyssimont. This means he will be a Leaf killer right?

Anyway. We know what these guys are, regardless of how they have played recently, all it takes is a momentum shift for these guys to get back in the groove. They are just as dirty as the Bruins. Vas hasn’t played great? Doesn't matter. I do think these guys can flip a switch. This is going to be a tough, tough series. Hopefully it will make it all the more sweeter if we win.

I do think we haven’t seen the Leafs at their best yet either. The speed of the game against the Habs was what I hope will be the norm. The defensive game against the Bruins was a good sign. I think guys like Acciari, McCabe, ZAR, Lafferty and Schenn have another physical gear. Top guys are finally waking up at the right time. It’s going to be an intense series. A lot of futures are on the line.

Their PP was looking dynamite vs Ottawa last night.

Brian Elliott was terrible and barring some unlikely scenario we won’t see him.

Hedman looked like he was getting beat by Ottawa’s speed on a regular basis and looked like a struggling Rielly. But we don’t have that kind of speed anymore.

Tampa has lost a little depth each year over the past 3 seasons. Leafs should be clear favourites this year. Vasi, however can be the equalizer and win the series on his own. I lean to the Leafs as I think Tampa's D won't be able to neutralize our stars.

Sergachev makes that D look a bit better but still a far cry from their backend of years past.

Hedman does look like he lost a step this year, he's still a beast and a stud #1 but I think the last 3 years have taken a toll on him. He reminds me of Chara in like 2014-15 ish, still a monster great defensively but definitely lost a step.

It feels like a "Yeah but" narrative is already starting if the Leafs win the series

That is my opinion as well. I can‘t believe that Tampa Beats Toronto.
I think we will Face Boston after Tampa.
Greets from Bremen, Germany.

Oh yes, they are not as good as last year, even with Sergachev.

They probably should have won in 6 games last year, but threw two games away. If they do that this year it’ll be a short series.

I think you mean we should've won in 6 games last year if they didn't fake two high sticks in a row.
No, they were a smart team and took advantage of everything.
I was thinking more about the games they failed to compete.

Who cares, you take the wins as they come.

I gotta say though. Looking back on the 2020 Bubble Stanley Cup, it looks like such a fake event. Don't get me wrong, I was cheering for Tampa at the time and they've been my second team for a number of years, but it just doesn't look right.

The problem isn't how good or bad shape the opposing team is. Leafs were clear favorites against the Habs. But couldn't finish.

Hope the team has matured enough and the new additions can push through the hump

If Knies plays it's obviously gonna be for ZAR most likely but our lineup would look so much playoff-like if Knies took in over Kerfoot.

Jarnkrok - Mathews - Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Knies - O'rielly - Acciari
ZAR - Kampf - Lafferty

If it’s not

Bunting Matthews Marner

Then fire Keefe. It was the best line in hockey last year and is again this year. Don’t be stupid

Bunting is a monster with these 2 and nobody else can elevate like he can.

Lightning are a lot weaker this season. The losses of Palat, McDonagh and Rutta is huge. Palat was their 2nd leading scorer last playoffs and McDonagh and Rutta were big on the defensive end. Still they have the championship pedigree and the best goalie in the world. Plus our "core" has shown it has choked in series where they are the favorite and the underdog. They just find ways to lose in the biggest moments. This is it for this core. They lose this one and it's all over. 7 straight 1st round losses would be embarrassing. No excuse not to knock off a team that is the weakest version of itself.
