Thinking out loud: maybe this is why the rush heavy, counter-punching teams ala Babcock and Carlyle existed. They can find success with a hot goalie and fast forwards. I also recall reading how sustained pressure in the offensive zone isn't as productive as oddman rushes.

of course it wouldn't be , since it's much easier to get a clean look on an odd man rush , as well as the time and space to get a quality shot off with better placement

Not only that, these stat sheets don't measure shot location quality. Both of Ehlers shots were grade A shots on grade A chances.
