They won the first period. We won the 2nd. The 3rd was pretty even, maybe slightly in their favour. Campbell made some big saves in the 3rd.

This was a super tight game with 2 good teams and we came out on top. The Leafs fully deserved those 2 points.

People were whining that this was a big test. The Leafs delivered. They kept digging and working and it worked.

I definitely didn't like their energy level coming out in the first period against the defending champions. Felt like they were running uphill in the second and third and Tampa was okay with just shutting them down 1-0 as they can. Campbell was a hero again channeling the ghost of Curtis Joseph. But they found a way to break through in the clutch and got a call in OT. Wouldn't necessarily give them a lot of style points, but feels like they can look back on this game as a breakthrough (they were getting smothered a la Montreal) and they "beat the champs."

Pure dominance for the majority of that game and some god like timely saves by Jack Campbell. Willy finishes them off with an absolute bomb.

They threw everything at Vasi and went toe-to-toe with the Lightning.

They dominated the 2nd period. Leafs had 4-5 oddman rushes in that period, among a boatload of offensive zone time. Tampa Bay had no shots for like 12 minutes of that period.

If Campbell is to be praised for the 3rd period, Vasilevski should be for the 2nd period. If either goaltender is off their game, the other team wins by a landslide.

Love that we are able to say this. It was alway us saying “but you only won cuz your goaltender”… I hated that so much, always thought why not us.. but now we got our goalie in the form of a golden retriever mixed with an avenger

Glad they won but they still made it much harder than it needed to be. Team is still soft as Charmin.

How easy is it supposed to be to beat a team like Tampa? It seems like there's always a new arbitrary bar that certain fans have before they can say the Leafs had a good performance

What's important is the blue and white won. Definitely feels like we kinda stole one there...

There was nothing stolen.

Leafs earned every inch of ice from the 2nd on and beat Tampa at their own game.

Yes Tampa got a lot of looks in the 3rd and got stoned by Campbell, but remember that the Leafs kept them to 2 shots for like 25 minutes. They were controlling early in the first though.

What a huge goal by JT and then Willy. Absolutely massive win.

I thought Brodie played his best game of the season too.

He can't shoot, so he just kind of floats around. I would expect a better effort but spoiled kid.
