If I was Craig Berube...

Knies-Matthews-Domi --> Take your $13.25m Centre, and use him to elevate $5m worth of combined wingers.

McMann-Tavares-Nylander --> They're going to be good, reliable... and Nylander's going to have to carry the load offensively.

Pacioretty-Minten-Marner --> Minten's the best C prospect we've had in a while, build him up by putting one of the league's best playmakers on his wing, alongside a vet with a history of scoring goals.

Jarnkrok-Kampf-Cowan --> I'd argue that Cowan has a "bigger" jump to make to the NHL than Minten does.... let him get out there with a little bit less ice; alongside 2 guys that are solid 2-way players.

Holmberg and Dewar as extras... .stash Reaves in the AHL until you see what you have in Minten/Cowan.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

Jonas Siegler on First Up this morning stated (his opinion/not a report) he was convinced that the Nylander at Centre experiment will be tried again.

It was originally a Tre idea - that Keefe didn’t embrace is his theory. Also thinks it makes sense from a Cap Perspective. You then have the following at C:

Matthews
Willy
Jt
Kampf

Admittedly that looks good if Willy can excel.

Knies Matthews Domi
McMann Willy Marner
Patches JT Jarnkrok
Holmberg Kampf Cowan

Reaves
Robertson

Problem with Willy is that he drives his own line, but by himself, for himself. I.e. He doesn't play well/gel with others. At the very least he loves to carry the puck. A lot.

So if he's at C, then I'd look at something like:
Knies-AM-Domi
McCann-JT-Marner
Pac?-Willy-Jarnkrok

One big upside: Presents a real challenge for opposing coaches trying to match up against AM, Willy and Marner on 3 different lines. Only question is how to divide ES ice time fairly unless Berube throws a loaded line out there semi-regularly.

I've been all aboard the Willy at C train for awhile. We have no RH centers except for Dewar, he can carry a line and has the speed/vision to do so, and his transition game is top tier.

Put Marner on his line for a little defensive conscience and another winger like McMann or someone to fight in corners and crash the net and you have the makings of a pretty sick line.

Also lines up Tavares at 3C which he's probably best suited for these days

I'm not sure that's true - Willy has been a large reason why JT has produced as well as he has over the last couple of years.

As much as I'd like to see Willy and Mitch together, I think JT might need Mitch more. But do we want Mitch on the third line?

By the end of camp: 2 scenarios. 1. New signings in the lineup or 2. probably injured/unsigned before the end of camp.

in lineup version.....Jarnkrok and/or Timmins probably waived or traded for cap reasons.
I like the prospect of Nylander at centre. Gives 3 solid top 3 lines..

Knies. Matthews. Marner - Power forward -Other Worldly being- Playmaker
Pacioretty Nylander. McMann - Scorer - Quarterback- Power Forward
Robertson Tavares. Domi. - Scorer - Cycle Centre - Playmaker
Dewar. Kampf. Holmberg/Reeves - 8 minute line

Rielly. Tanev - 22 minutes.
OEL. Liljegren - 19 minutes
McCabe. Hakanpää - 19 - minutes (PK)
Benoit

Woll
Stolarz

I would worry about the defensive responsibilities of line 3 though.
Berube is going to squeeze every ounce of speed/intensity out of these guys. Some may struggle.

Will be an interesting camp

That doesn't sound like the type of 3rd line Berube likes.

He wants to build a third line like he had in St. Louis, like Tampa had in its two Stanley Cup runs. “An identity line,” he calls it.

Can’t the 4th line be the identity line?
Otherwise I think from pieces we have best bet at an identity 3rd line would be McMann JT and Holmberg maybe?
4th line can have an identity but they wouldn't receive enough minutes to be impactful.

It's hard to say what the coaches idea of an 'identity line' is.
Checking line? Tough line? Pesky line?

Including Dewar we have no right-handed centers.

Our only RH forwards are Nylander, Marner, Reaves, and Jarnkrok.

Willy can take draws even if he isn't C, but I don't mind him as C.

Put Marner on his line for a little defensive conscience and another winger like McMann or someone to fight in corners and crash the net and you have the makings of a pretty sick line.

Willy and Marner don't seem like they complement each other well.

Also lines up Tavares at 3C which he's probably best suited for these days

He produces like a low-end 1C or high-end 2C still... just roll 3 good lines for once...

If Nylander is C:

Holmberg - Matthews - Domi
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Robertson - Nylander - McMann
Dewar - Kampf - Janrkrok

Rielly - Tanev
McCabe - Liljegren
OEL - Hakanpaa

hard pass. Marner is gone in 12 months.

Knies Matthews Domi

Pacioretty Nylander McMann

Robertson Tavares Marner

Dewar Kampf Holmberg

If these lines dont work you swap around McMann and Marner.

PP1 Knies Matthews Nylander Domi and our best D slapshot OEL.
PP2 Marner, JT, Rielly, Robertson, McMann.

Our best D slapshot is Hakanpaa, do you want him on the PP?

OEL might be a better PP QB, but I am not convinced of it just because he has a better slapshot.

We have the best scorer in the league on the PP too.

With all this depth players like Steeves and Abruzzeze have 0 shot haha. Not that they ever really did. But they must be so bummed.

Who is TOR's 3rd&4th line center? If you answer "The Nylander Brothers", then we can't have a serious conversation.

Alex doesn't play C, sounds like Willy may this year.

Kampf is likely 4C, and one of Holmberg, Nylander, or Domi is likely 3C.

Is Lorentz even a full-time C? He isn't a full-time NHLer, we know that, but the amount of faceoffs he takes year after year tells me he is likely not a full-time C.

There is a new seed that Jonas Siegel planted in the heads of leaf fans. 5 years in a row of playing right wing really well won't stop the media/fans from suggesting that Willy should play Center now.

I'd love for that to be the 4th line, I just can't believe Berube would throw out 3 rookies on a line. I do believe that Cowan is going to make a serious push. Besides, he can't be sent to the A, and sending him back to the Knights would probably be a detriment to his development. I like the other 3 lines you have. Good speed and tenaciousness on each line.

It seems to me you don't care for the answer. You want to not see Lorentz in the NHL full time.
