You can see, especially from the other view that Nylander didn't make much of an effort to go out and actually block the point or the pass. He had time too because the guy made a tape to tape pass backwards and Nylander just stood there.

Supposedly Keefe was going nuts on the bench. I think that was his last shift.

Yea that was a bad shift! He was cheating for offence, then when the guy winds up to shoot he puts 0 pressure on him, and essentially screens Woll on the shot... yep he deserved to sit the rest of the way.

I'm so f***ing tired of Queef. How about hold the golden boys account for their bullshit and not just pick on Nylander because its an easy target you sack of crap. Better yet we should have fired his ass after the Montreal debacle or because he insists on making Holl happen with Muzzin. Like it not gonna happen. Stop trying to make it happen.

Sorry but Nylander deserved the benching! First he tries to cheat on offense on the Play, then he refuses to apply any pressure to the point guy, and lastly he screened his own goalie on the shot... sorry don't try to defend him here. Keefes other decisions, have nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

The first goal by skinner, the defender on the point got the puck and Nylander was pressing the puck but it was pretty pathetic... no real rush to get to the point, the player had plenty of time to make a decision of what he wanted to do with it.

I did see him working super hard in the offensive zone on a puck battle and was actually being physical... when most of our top players (marner matthews and nylander) are only willing to lift sticks.

Definitely. If only Keefe was consistent. Muzzin, Marner, Matthews, Rielly, JT they've all had bad plays or looked terrible, but Keefe would never sit them.

I’m happy for the Brick Woll but it’s still a joke that our call up options are Hutchinson, Woll and Kallgren. It’s Dubas job to make sure we have decent goaltending depth.

I've been saying this for ages, the leafs have to be one of the worst teams at drafting/developing actual goaltending talent, even worse then Philly, I have no qualms saying that. Potvin was the last player they drafted/developed that actually suited up for the leafs and was successful, that was 32 years ago...

Absolute trash effort by the Leafs today. Quite frankly, I think this was worse than the Pittsburgh game... At least in that game they can use the excuse of not trying after a while.

They tried today, and just sucked. Didn't deserve even 1 point, never mind a regulation win.

I feel bad for Woll. He deserved much better, but at least he got his first win out of it. He was one of the main reasons we won today, and that is not a good thing when he gave up 4 goals on 27 shots.
We deserved 2 points because we scored more goals than the other team.

Saw the game and I have to say the 3rd and 4th goals were defensive breakdown than on the goalie.
Woll played a solid game.
Willy was okay but that last goal was on him as he could have done so much more, it happens and he will bounce back stronger next game.
Overall 2 pts is 2 pts.
On to the next one.

That was a...weird game. They started out looking like men playing boys, what with the Leafs poking pucks away like crazy and playing keep away all over the ice, and then they just...I dunno. They just sat back and let Buffalo pepper the net. You'd think they would want to give a young goalie a break or...something. Truly bizarre.

What is he supposed to do? Believe it or not, NHL caliber goaltenders prefer playing in the NHL. They don't want to be saddled with minor league contracts. Hutchison is pretty much the best thing you can expect to find in a third rate goalie: somewhat young, decent NHL experience, shaky but good enough to at least stop most NHL caliber shots. That or actually raise a good goal tender.

Random fun fact: just realized this Hutchison, and the OTHER Hutchison, Drew, were both raised in Toronto farm systems, are the exact same age, height, and pretty close to weight, and have had roughly the same career trajectory. Toronto does not have much luck with Hutchisons, heh.

Kerfoot is clearly our 5th best forward, he’s been playing great recently. Quite the effort on the game winner
Pretty much, Leafs aren't going to find a much better replacement thru FA with just 3.5 mill. Besides after losing Hyman, AJ, Kap and Brown due to the Cap, I much rather the Leafs actually keep one of their few remaining, reliable depth scorers.

I agree, but with a raise for Campbell and bridging Sandin and Liljegren, Dubas will need to clear 4 - 5.5M. There will be a realistic scenario Kerfoot won’t be here next season.

Are we sure Morgan got the winner? because that looked like it could have went off Matthews

Watch the slow mo replay here. It definitely gets redirected by something at the last moment otherwise it was going...wait for it because Rielly almost never does this (/s)...wide. Hard to tell from so far away what deflected it but I'm almost positive it's Matthews' glove. Could have been Dell's glove though. Are you allowed to deflect a puck in with your glove? Maybe that's why they can't change it to award it to Matthews (as of now, NHL.com still has it as Rielly's goal).

Leafs are 6-1 against teams in their division, heck yeah

Maybe our division isn't as great as everyone predicted. Only Florida and TO are in the top ten and even our spot is inflated because of games played (BTW, it feels like every year we get way out ahead of other teams in games played).

I only watched the 3rd period.

Dermott brutal on the 3rd goal, giving it away.

4th goal, Woll didn't even have a proper goalie stick.

He's definitely not ready for the NHL yet but maybe this helps motivate him with the Marlies.
