Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign RHD John Klingberg (1 year, $4.15M) | UPD 11/23: LTIR

His straight leg skating and refusal and inability to tie up his man and really get into it, poor puck distribution leads me to think he’s just not into it.

I thought he looked okay in some games, and was making good decisions in moving the puck. I don't really worry about points from the defense as much as limiting points for the opposition.

Certainly looks like the brainfreezeitis that afflicts Giordano and Brodie has spread.

He looked sloppy but productive in Montreal and Minnesota. Then not bad during the winning streak and looked alright in that air right game vs Dallas. Then the wheels just fell off after the Nashville game and he’s been eye popping bad.

Everyone else up to NHL speed now, or is he hiding something? (injury wise)

Kinda tired of Klingberg and Reaves already. Not a good thing.

On the fence about Bertuzzi, too. Could go either way, but at least it's a one-year deal.

Listening to latest Friedman pod, there may be potential of LTIR'ing Klingberg. If he decides the constant negative attention is not worth playing through aggravating hip injury, maybe he just shuts it down for surgery.
That would be ideal, swing a trade for a real
defender with the cap space.

Feels like LTIR at this point is a career death sentence. Hes coming back on a PTO/league mininum type deal if he goes that route

If he keeps playing this way, that's the best he could hope for next year anyway. At least he could sell teams that it was injuries that were holding him back, if he just keeps playing like this, he's looking at a homecoming to sweden.

Like I told you guys a few weeks ago Klinberg is hurt (hips) .. it is only a question of when he goes on LTIR now .. unless of course he is traded first . but i doubt any team needs a hurt 6th D man who can only play PP

If only we re-signed Schenn. Rielly paired with the Human Eraser is a far superior offensive damn than Klingberg ever has been.

Maybe Tre can work some magic where we trade Klingberg for Campbell with retention, and can then flip Campbell for a draft pick or something. Edmonton gets depth scoring (in theory) from the blue line and moves on from a distressed asset.

Edit - I don't think my pie in the sky proposed trade would work since Edmonton's cap savings from demoting Campbell exceed any retention they could offer after taking on Klingberg
