Dash 4 and looks lost....perhaps we can drop him off in Sudbury and hope he uses the same skills he shows in our D zone. He will be lost forever

I seriously have to question Trelivings decision making skills. What did he see over the last few seasons that motivated him to sign Klingberg for $4.15 million is beyond me.
If Toronto waives Klinkberg and he refuses to go to the Marlies , what happens. I can't see him wanting to play in the AHL.
Dude, that isn't remotely outrageous to say, Gardiner was waaaaayyyyy better than this guy. This guy is worse than Jake Gardiner. I'm not joking.
He would be suspendedIf Toronto waives Klinkberg and he refuses to go to the Marlies , what happens. I can't see him wanting to play in the AHL.
If you were the player would you? That’s a lot of money to throw away.I wonder if it could get to a mutual termination of contract.
He's nowhere as good as Gardiner. Well maybe on par with game 7 Gardiner lol. This guy is worse than Jake Gardiner. I'm not joking.
There were games were Gardiner was real gudHe's nowhere as good as Gardiner. Well maybe on par with game 7 Gardiner lol.
⁰I was thinking the same. I wonder if Tre caught Klingon on a good week when Calgary played Dallas and thought to himself "now there's a guy I would love on my team"?. I'm just not convinced the scouting department(s) talked him into this.
If he is suspended does his cap disappearHe would be suspended

Did he get a signing bonus if so by the new year there maybe 1.5 mil left on the contractHe would be suspended

It's based on reputation. Klingberg was once a very good dman and because he was a part of the Stars' run to the finals in 2019-20, he gets the benefit of the deep playoff run contract bonus.
How many times have you witnessed players that were role players on Cup winners or Cup finalists get a big payday and flop? Lets count them:
- Nazem Kadri - A player btw, that everyone on this subreddit said was better than Tavares because of ONE outlier season.
- Bryan Bickell - Member of the Cup winning Blackhawks dynasty, got his payday in Carolina.
- Dave Bolland - Received a 4x$5.5 deal from Florida with a no move clause
- James Neal - Made the finals with the Golden Knights and was rewarded with 5x$5.75 deal immediately afterwards
Been hearing a lot of chatter on this. The guy Dumba chose Arizona over Toronto Maple Leafs in the end. I'm not blaming Tre there - if he wanted to come here Leafs would have made it work or Dumba would have came down a bit if he ended up taking that from Phoenix. I don't think he wanted to 'really' sign here in the end - if he did and it sounds like the Leafs definitely wanted him I think he'd be here right now.I thing treliving wanted Dumba but at that time his price was 5.5 mil then he shifted to Klinkberg.
By the time Dumba dropped his price the Leafs already signed Klingberg

Definitely going through this mess on the weekend and quote tweeting all the supporters. I’m sure they would’ve loved Dubas signing a soft, slow, defensively inept #6 D for $4 mil.![]()
He can be the in arena DJ. I hear that’s the one thing he is good at.If Reaves is really benched tomorrow, he should come out and hang out with Carlton the Bear. Shoot t-shirts and shit into the stands to hype up the crowd
Klingberg was utterly getting destroyed today by the Toronto media. Some of the analytics stats pointed out had him like the worst defence man in the league so far this season.
They even mentioned that he's untradable at the moment and very close to being waived.
There is no way this guy lasts the season here in Toronto based on the vitriol coming from all angles.
The issue is they wanted Gudas, and he is like the complete opposite of Klingberg. This seems like they ran out of options, and desperately signed anyone that was left.Admittedly, I didn't mind the signing because we desperately needed more offense from the blue line. I've been critical of his defensive play dating back to the last DAL/CGY playoff series, but I thought maybe in a better defensive system, he wouldn't look as bad and the offense would make up for the deficiencies.
It doesn't even look like he is trying out there. Stands up straight, stick on the wrong side of the body, questionable decisions with the puck, not taking his man....and worst of all, providing nothing offensively to negate some of the above.
Hard to say if he can turn it around. Maybe in a lesser role once everyone is healthy, but might be too late by that point.
really, really?I still really, really like this signing. Excellent at what he does.
You realize he was the only one backchecking on that play. Laughable how people blame Gardiner, while the rest of the team was out to lunch. Guy could skate like the wind, and his D partners would throw him the puck like a hot potato because he was the only one that could move the puck back there. He's nowhere as good as Gardiner. Well maybe on par with game 7 Gardiner lol.
