Just messing around on capfriendly they will need to move Holl, but not necessarily Kerfoot.

If they trade Holl they can sign engvall and sandin, run 7d and no extra forward and be compliant - sending down Simmonds/others so the fourth line us kubel and two other cheap guys (marlies I presume/malgin).

If they trade Kerfoot I assume it's to add another forward they like to add to the mix.

Assuming no kerfoot trade though I would run:

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Robertson-Tavares-Nylander
Steeves/J.Anderson/Malgin - Kerfoot - Jarnkrok
Engvall - Kampf - Kubel

Think it's time NR gets his extended shotgun the top 6.

Would be trying to see if Stastny will take a cheap deal trying to win, trade Kerfoot and try to sign a Milano or Heinen to go on the LW of that line with the excess cash.
Still not a fan of Tavares-Nylander together but I like your set up for the bottom 6.

is Will Willy Nylander?
Sorry, massive overpay by us.

Agreeed, as much as some Leaf fans don't like Willies effort, me included, he is one of the best producing wingers in the League. He was 5th in the league in scoring for RW behind, Marner, Rantanen, Kane, Tarasenko, with the 2nd least amount of ATOI among those 5. Those four guys are considered elite stars. Time people put a little respect on Nylanders trade value.

Benn and Mete fit that bill

If cap space is not created what happens to Sandin and Engvall?
Sandin is not in a position of strength here, he pretty much has to take a Liljegren offer.

Engvall may have a case for a raise, and then we will have to find a trade. As it is right now, we have cap space to sign them both.

Here's hoping it looks something like this

Will + Holl + Robertson

Chykrun + Crouse + 2nd 2023 + 3rd 2024
That leaves a huge log jam at LD. I like the idea of something that big but hard to see chykrun being the piece. Still have eyes on JT Miller. Solves a lot of issues (Tavares to wing, salary, aggressiveness)

This is a great value signing! We replace Kerfoot for $1.5m less, which will allow greater flexibility to move Holl and acquire a more phyiscal player for our D and maybe another LW.

I wonder if the plan is to play him C on the 3rd or 4th line or if he'll primarily be a winger

Doubt they are paying him 2.1m to play on the 4th line. Question is does he play C or wing on the third line IMO.
Jarnkrok was 53.4% in the FO dot last year with Calgary and 49.4% with Seattle.

There is no question he is being brought in to anchor the middle of the 3rd line.

Engvall --- Jarnkrok -- Nylander (All-Swedish line)
&
Robertson --- Tavares -- Kerfoot

Don't mind Robbie with JT but prefer at least one heavy winger. IMO Kerfoot will be moved.

Im 90% sure hes been a winger who takes faceoffs the past few years. Calgary had him in the middle, but he was usually with Gourde/Wennberg in Seattle.

Nashville he was usually with Granlund/Johansen/Duchene

Jarnkrok - Kampf - Engvall has a decent ring to it if the plan was to replace Mikheyev, not Kerfoot

That could work. Gonna depend who else they bring in.

Gonna be interesting to see whether he is only replacing Mik because I am thinking Kerfoot might have to also be moved to make room. JarnKrok and ??? in - Mik and Kerfoot out ???

He's 31 in September and you give him a 4 year deal?

This has to be the biggest question. Signing him is fine, but for 4 freaking years???!!!!

Everyone of these "Confirmed with Link" threads ends up being a punch line.

Dubas keeps doing it to himself.

Not only is TOR committed for 4 years, but they're going to have move 1 or 2 roster players to accommodate.

Does it make sense to ship off Kerfoot (I'm not a huge Kerfoot fan) to accommodate Jarkrok?

If Kyle had only drafted a lot better we would have Marlies graduates playing these roles and for less money/term.

Jarnkrok will be fine this season, but 4 years?

Jarnkrok is an easy dump if needed to one of the basement teams needing to reach cap floor in 2-3 years. Highly respected bottom 6 player.

Yes, he signed Jarnkrok to be a Kerfoot replacement for 4 years at $1.4 million less of a cap hit. He will only be 34 when it ends, so any drop off will be minimal.

Not sure why people have any issues with a consistent 3rd liner who has always produced and is reliable. He's not too old (30), and the term is fine - perhaps 1 year less would have been ideal, but the lowered cap hit makes it all worthwhile.

Jarnkrok can fill in at C but mostly plays RW.

If he's with Kampf that gives them a nice L/R faceoff combo on the 3rd line.

Yeah I'd expect him to be next to Kampf and Engvall as the defensive zone start line, aka the shut down line.

But during a season, there are shuffles and injuries, so I wouldn't be surprised if they try him out as a center or even in the top 6 as a glue player.
